Who's replacing Randi Rhodes?
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 08:35 PM by pstokely
Will they just go through months of guest hosts until they find a permanent host? Could she find work at Nova M or Jones?

1. I thought she was suspended, not fired.
I heard Seder (sp?) say today he hopes she's back soon.

4. She pulled a Whoopi.
But spoke vulgar against a Democrat, so all bets are off.

7. I was actually at this event
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 09:25 PM by SDuderstadt
I don't support censorship, but I was appalled at Randi's tirade. If I had been speaking about Obama that way, calling him a "big fucking pimp" (which I would never, ever do), I would expect some repercussions (Hillary is my candidate, but I will proudly work for and vote for Obama, should he be the nominee). As she went on this rant, I was surprised, not that many there were Obama supporters but, rather, that no one called her out on her shabby treatment of someone who could, possibly, be the nominee (as unlikely as that currently appears)and who is, nonetheless, a sitting United States senator and a member of the slim Democratic majority in that body.

I don't know this for a fact, but I would surmise that possibly the event's sponsor, a KKGN advertiser who runs a martial arts studio, might possibly be a Hillary supporter and complained to station management for footing the bill for an attack on Hillary. I would love to hear the inside story on this one. I'd also love to hear what the rest of my fellow DUers think.

9. In context, the opposite of "whore" is not "pimp"
No wonder you are upset, I don't think you know what the word means.

10. Oh, for crying out loud....
show me where I claimed it "was the opposite"! I am merely saying if I had repeatedly called Barack Obama a "big fucking pimp", I would have expected a huge uproar and rightfully so. He is, after all, a sitting United States Senator. Are you defending what Randi said about Hillary?

11. I support Obama, but Randi went over the line weeks ago...
She had just been on an incredible anti-Hillary tirade for some time, taking no prisoners, including some pretty incredible escalated rudeness towards callers-- whether they agreed with her (or she perceived that they did not).

The past couple of days she'd calmed down again and I was back listening. But, the level of vehemence towards HRC, in my opinion, is uncalled for, whether from Randi or Ed Schultz or any other "progressive" radio host. I don't support her, but I do still believe she is due some respect.

That being said, I don't want to see her fired (though I would love to have Sam Seder back on full time, I have to admit).

13. Of all the possibilites, I hope your theory is wrong.

It's one thing for AAR management to take action based on violation of their documented company policies (would like to see which one Randi breached), but a whole 'nother thing for AAR to take action simply due to offense being taken by *any* person or group. If Randi breached company policy, then AAR management needs to come forward with documentation of their policy, including proof that the policy has been fully communicated to all employees, on-air talent and otherwise.
