Idiot demands apology to "the troops" from baseball fans booing George Bush..
what kind of twisted logic is this???...

Tuesday, April 1, 2008; Page A16

As a Navy veteran and the uncle of an Army Ranger on his third tour in Iraq, I was disgusted by the people who booed President Bush before the start of the Washington Nationals' season-opening game <"A 'Storybook Ending,' " front page, March 31>.

Our president deserves respect, and booing him at a nationally televised game ruined the team's triumph and the beauty of the day. I felt embarrassed for the city of Washington.

Shame on the fans who did this. Booing the president was like booing me and my nephew. The president and the troops deserve an apology.

MIKE McHUGH

4. Dear Mister McHugh:
We are sorry that somehow this miserable excuse of a human being ended up in charge of the military. We are also sorry that you and your nephew were probably used as a pawn in his little game.
We are also sorry that we booed, but that is the most we could legally do. Could we have done more we would have.
Yours Truly,
Rurallib.

35. Out of bounds...
You may have a point about someone getting wealthy off this war, but it isn't the troops. It's common knowledge that military service is very low-paying. Saying servicemen and -women are doing this to get wealthy is an ignorant and erroneous statement.

But, welcome to DU anyway!

Eventually a country needs a line of defense or the life you so revere will be snuffed out by 'freedom fighters'. It is so funny because I stand on a peace line twice a week speaking out about this war, urging our lazy Americans to wake the hell up. I am the one who gets the yells that I don't respect the troops. Go figure. Peace, kim

Life will be snuffed out by the nearly 30,000 nukes - or a host of other extinction-ensuring biological and chemical goodies - that our species, on it's unfaltering path to race suicide, decided we needed to be "safe."

served three (or is it 4??) voluntary tours in Iraq and now they are sending him back for another tour, but this time it's NOT voluntary. He's tired of going and doesn't want to go again, but they said sit down, shut up, and do as you're told. I'm afraid his luck won't hold out.

If he is, three tours is LOW! I know US Army Special Operations Command (parent command of the 75th) troops who've been six or seven times--and no, they didn't volunteer for follow-on tours. Then again...USASOC tours are shorter than most troops' tours--six months at most.

"Our president deserves respect, and booing him at a nationally televised game ruined the team's triumph and the beauty of the day. I felt embarrassed for the city of Washington."

Respect is earned , skid mark ; a title that has not been earned based upon some sort of merit or legitimacy (like that of president) , deserves only scorn and derision ........

BTW
What position do you play on the Nats , jerkoff ?

How the hell would you know what the mood/feeling was inside the clubhouse immediately after the game ?

I'm willing to bet the majority of Nationals players felt similarly to those in the crowd who were booing , and the display by the fans had absolutely no impact whatsoever on the team's triumph , in any way............

As a veteran, I ought to demand an apology to all troops, past and present, from any one who supports Mr. Bush.

I won't do it, however. I put that uniform on so idiots like Mr. McHugh can be free to spew that kind of nonsense and because allowing him to do so is better than the alternative.

71. It's funny how freeptards like Mikey are so in tune with the views . . .
. . . of cities and whole counties, AAMOF, that voted overwhelmingly against the Failure Fuhrer in 2004. I bet DC (you know, the area that HAD a terrorist attack committed against it . . . twice) duly notes the concerns of Freepdumb Fighters like Mikester and will take that into consideration when exercising their rights to free speech, such as that pesky Bill of Rights allows them.

Freepers = Scheissen.

73. Some Of Those Fans Who Booed Bush Were Iraq War Veterans!

So does McHugh want these troops to apologize to Bush?

Bush needs to apologize to the soldiers for putting them in harms way in a war that was built on a mountain of lies.

74. And then there is THIS from the comment section from a mouth-breather named Gordon Levy
"The Nationals came from Canada where booing the American national anthem was "the last straw." You know what? Give the Nationals back to Ottowa. If fans boo the President of the United States on opening day, theydon't deserve to have the nationals in D. C.
Besides, Mr. Bush is the best president this country has ever had."\

Gordon Levy, Coarsegold, California

So what we have in all of these comments against President Bush is what Rush Limbaugh calls "seminar callers", i,e, they are taught to write in or call in and use terminology the Democratci Left Wing teaches them. Anyone who calls the President a "war Criminal", or claims he chooses his audiences for improper reasons, is a seminar trainee who can't thin for himself. The last four wars before the Gulf War were started by Democratic Prsidents who went to war against countries that had not attacked us -- Germany, North Korea, North Viet Nam, Bosnia...thin about that, seminar writers for the Left Wing. There has not been a 9/11 terrorist attack in the U S since we went to war with Afghanistan and Iraq, Kuwait is still free, and the Taliban and Al Quida are rendered impotent. One more thing: why call President Bush an AWOL? He served in the Texas Air National Guard, flying a fighter plane, for Pete's sake. And finally, for any real baseball fan, his "first pitch" should have satisfied the crowd -- it was perfect, although a little high.

Gordon Levy, Coarsegold, California.

I am so sick of sharing a country with these people. How, at this point, people can be this stupid, clueless, and uninformed, is beyond the pale.

As for his second comment, Project Much? Not being able to think for oneself is the hallmark of all Dittoheads.

Mr. Levy, might I suggest you get yourself to an Enlistment Office Post Haste, so that you may have the glorious opportunity to die for your King and his War.

76. If he thinks G.W. Bush is the best President this country has ever had..
then he doesn't deserve to live in this country. The people of Washington D.C. don't need this asswipe to lecture us on what we do and do not deserve. Most of us here are involved in keeping this country up and running in some fashion or another. We're the people behind the scenes that nobody bothers to think about. You know, the people that do the Washington shit work.

Just two more of his FUCKING clueless remarks:

"he served in the Texas National Guard flying a fighter plane"

"his "first pitch" should have satisfied the crowd". That's right dude, they were booing the pitch...

I googled Coarsegold California. It's out in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. This guy probably sits around watching FAUX all day long in his skivvies. Oh wait, he probably multi-tasks. He's got FAUX on mute, and Rush in the background. He writes like he does.

79. LOL!
First off, the idiot says "Germany never attacked us"...no, but they did issue a declaration of war against us. Should we not have responded in kind?

Second: "There has not been a 9/11 terrorist attack in the U S since we went to war with Afghanistan and Iraq"

No, there have not been any attacks on "September 11th"...but what about the anthrax attack, which oddly enough was barely investigated. Interesting considering the anthrax was being sent to members of the Congress. You'd think that might warrant some investigation.

Also, the attacks (by right-wing conservatives) against abortion clinics are the textbook definition of terrorism: http://www.religioustolerance.org/abo_viol.htm

Third: "Taliban and Al Quida are rendered impotent"

The Taliban controls a majority of Afghanistan. "Impotent" indeed. And if Al Qaeda is impotent, why do Republicans keep screaming about how we need to protect ourselves against them?

Fourth: "And finally, for any real baseball fan, his "first pitch" should have satisfied the crowd -- it was perfect, although a little high."

Some people care more about war crimes and lawbreaking than baseball.

Blech...I don't know why I bothered with that idiot now.

82. What exactly does this mean?
Im not sure I understand what "support the troops" means.

Meaningless jingoistic slogan designed to distract us from a war I hate? Ah, yes. Now I get it.

87. Euphemistic ploy builds support of war by demanding support for those the War Pigs $acrifice
And never mind all of that "collateral damage." If you actually support humanity, then you're against militarization.

88. hey, mikey, explain to me why it seems to be that the people who rant
the loudest about their patriotism and how much they LOOOOOVE this country, are the very ones who demonstrate their complete and total lack of comprehension about what this country is supposed to stand for, and what the constitution means?

I apologize if I used words and concepts that were too complex for you, you brain-dead, kool-ade drinking moran.

oh, by the way, if you are in such support of the idiot-in-chief and his little war, WHY AREN'T YOU over there?
