I was telling you that when you use these quotes, folks will say he "was just being funny" and I was trying to suggest a response to their point that that they will use = you'd be reading things into what McCain says by criticizing his little "jokes". It's the same sort of thing the Repugs did when folks got mad about "Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" = they said it was just a joke and it wasn't. It WAS a disguised message to his war-crazed supporters.

I didn't think your OP was humorous at all; it was a serious attempt to get ready for McCain, so it is very, very puzzling to me (in the same sense that Bosnia-gate is puzzling) that you thought I was talking about you, especially since there was no humor in what you said.
