3. Some loud boos on top of that
Probably a bit more applause than boos; but the boos were definitely heard. Surely he must know how hated he in the Democratic Potomac region.

80. Same thing here. I'm still stuck in TX. But those
"I love him, he's a great cowboy" people couldn't find a single pic of him on a horse. They ignored his comments to Tucker Carlson making fun of a woman he was allowing to be put to death, and talked about him having a great education. They wouldn't answer on his business failures, bailouts, theft of public money (Rangers baseball), prior crimes, etc.

He has been too big of a part of my life since 1996 now.

Many of them, after being wounded, are looking for something to cling to in order to make sense out of their injuries.

43. He may have the voting machines, but he doesn't have the baseball fields,
where democracy rules, where talent and competence are plain for all to see, and where violence against other human beings isn't the point.

My first big moment of clarity about Bushitism came during the Tim Robbins controversy, which, interestingly, was about baseball. A showing of Tim's great baseball movie, "Bull Durham," at a charity event, was canceled by some Reaganite at the Baseball Hall of Fame, because Tim Robbins had come out early and publicly against slaughtering 1.2 million people to get their oil. And, interestingly, it was baseball sports writers who came to his defense, and said the heck with that nazi stuff in the land of the free, home of the brave.

It's interesting, too, how baseball came into the picture, sort of subliminally, on 11/2/04, when Red Sox fans were celebrating their long-awaited win as a good omen for a Kerry win. Their omen was right. He did win. But they hadn't counted on stolen election II. None of us did--except for a few computer nerds crying in the wilderness.

What goes around comes around. Bush can't show his face to any but highly vetted audiences. Put him in any normal American crowd, and he will be booed. Because we're mostly honest people, you know, who want contests to be fair, who teach our kids to play by the rules, who root for the underdog and the "little guy," and who want a level playing field for all.

47. I can't wait for the video - AP has already pick up on the Boos
WASHINGTON (AP) - For a guy who admits he was never more than a mediocre baseball player, President Bush sure gets to keep living the dream.

Bush threw out the first pitch Sunday night at the gleaming new baseball stadium in Washington, the sixth time he has had the honor as president. It may be ceremonial, but it is not a duty a president wants to tank. People tend to have long memories when you bounce the ball to home plate.

So Bush made time this week to hurl some practice pitches in his backyard - the South Lawn of the White House.

There was a mixture of boos and cheers for Bush. Those in the upper deck of the $611 million ballpark could see the Capitol and the Washington Monument. The cherry blossoms planted beyond the left-field bleachers weren't yet in bloom.

96. $600 million PRIVATELY owned ballpark... paid for by insolvent DC tax dollars
From businesses that publically refused to invest in schools... and
demolished an entire low-income neighborhood (including its elementary
school) to make way for the stadium "entertainment district" which
promptly got sold to developers to build high security military and
gov't office buildings under the new Federal 200 foot protection ordnance.

Oh, and sold the team to a white suburban mall developer with allies on
the business council responsible for clearing retail out of downtown DC
to benefit his "more competitive" mega-cities on the outskirts which he
helped build... he got the stadium franchise as reward for his years of
service to shady Beltway contractors looking for exclusive dining shopping
and hi-security office space... Lol. First thing he did on buying the
team was fire Frank Robinson and announce that the team would likely fail
to appeal to black audience, so he insisted on lots of parking for his
new suburban audience. The city had to pay for it or he threatened to
move the newly created franchise he'd just been given.

62. I don't think I've ever seen that. Honestly,
I always kind of thought that when presidents do something at a sporting event, they're politely applauded no matter what. This is hilarious. I hope it's on you tube and I can email it to everyone.

Booed at the the game...

64. Shades of the scene in Liasons Dangerouses when the people in the Paris Opera began
to hiss and clap their fans at the Marquisse when she appeared after the Chevalier's death. . .
I am surprised that people haven't turned their backs on BushCo and hissed and booed them before in public appearances, especially Condaliza when she appeared at the theatre on Broadway during Katrina.

You know...The "You shouldn't boo the president" types who felt bad after the chorus of boos.

68. It was only mixed 'cause they cheered when the catcher caught the ball
They were booing Dubya, but cheering their team. Hence the "mix"...but CHIMPY got a round booing :)

CNN shows the clip of the first pitch. A cheer goes up as the pitch sails into the catcher's glove.
huzzah. huzzah.

* walks off the mound. (Crowd oddly "silent")

101. I hope everyone realizes that this is bad news.
the BOOing, I mean.

this man is not sane. He has a huge ego. When he perceives a slight or an attack, he retaliates. who knows what will enter the dark recesses of what is left of his mind now?

I would be very, very worried. Until he has a vacation, or three, at least.
