Why do I think McCain is a ringer???
Here is a guy who doesn't know anything about anything, including basic finance or contraception (!!??) being run for President who has the entire Republican war machine at his disposal and they can't prepare him any better than that??? He looks like a soft target and easy to beat.

I get the feeling that he is going to have to drop out at the last minute for health reasons. McCain is the perfect guy to ask to go on a mission like this, too. "For the Party and the Commander in Chief".....and the Republicans are going to stuff someone in at the convention who will "energize the base" and get all that ol' time religion back to the polls......

Someone who will look sterling after the YEAR of bullshit infighting in the Democratic primaries, and will not be carrying THAT baggage.

They have been a lot slicker than what I just proposed for the last 8 years...I just don't see the little league Roves within the party allowing it to go down so easy as McCain.....

1. But McCain is the best they got.
And that speaks volumes.

Who are they going to put in there, Newt? Jeb?

3. I don't really think they have anyone
who could come in and "energize the base" without seeming batshit crazy to the rest of the country.

Maybe that has something to do with their base...

4. A deal was made quite some time ago.
McCain more or less laid down for the neocons in return for the nom in 2008 - but make no mistake about it, he is a puppet with a master. The masters with all the strings had to deal with Romney and his personal fortune in order to get McCain the nom. And they did make a deal with Romney. The man hasn't dropped out, just waiting for his payment for "suspending" his candidacy.

The Democratic Party's dirty wheeling and dealing is about 80% out in the open this year. The Pukes put their's all behind the scenes as usual.

14. He denounced his country in Vietnam ...

He denounced his country in Vietnam under torture. Then he denounced his ideals under envy for Bush.

Yeah the polls are 50/50 right now. But you all have to realize that he has so many flip flops that he will be an easy target in the general election.

Honestly, I think they will pick someone young and robust and VERY FUNDY as VP in anticipation of McCain kicking it.

5. The Repub base is split
between freeper-types and fundies. There is no candidate that will satisfy both wings.

McCain somehow seemed to emerge as being the least worst option and Repubs being what they are have simply fallen in line behind him.

7. I don't think they want to win this election
There is so much crap to clean up, its going to be almost impossible for the next President to do it in 4 years. And the changes that will be necessary to make are going to be wildly unpopular. So my guess is that the next President may well be a 4 year President much like Carter. They want the dems to talk the knocks for the next presidency. I could be wrong, but I think that may be why them make Mitt quit.

9. I think you're right. They want to have a Democrat to blame for all the problems they created.
And unfortunately, there a lot of people who will believe them that it's all the Democrats fault. Unless we can get the truth out there, even to the people who don't pay much attention aside from watching the nightly news.

:tinfoilhat:

Now that I have my aluminum chapeau adjusted, I'll be OK....

:hi:

I had thought of this in passing, but it seemed to me they are too obsessed to give up power for even one term

12. How about the corpse of Ronald Reagan?
Many Americans like the memory of Reagan, and a cadaver is the only running mate who has less charisma than McShame.
