Cuyahoga County To Use Fingerprints To Identify Job-Seekers

CLEVELAND -- Cuyahoga County's 11 centers for job seekers in the Cleveland area plan to use fingerprints to identify clients.

New sign-in machines are being installed at Department of Workforce Development centers. The county hopes the system will increase reliability, but critics fear it will raise privacy issues.

Agency director Dennis Roberts said the system will provide a better picture of who is using the system and allow people to use some services from home computers.

Legal director Jeffrey Gamso with the American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio fears that fingerprint-linked information could be lost or misused.

If they would do that, I'd go along with the idea. BUT, this is just plain wrong.

It will just keep people away, and it seems like a racist ploy playing on minority distrust!!

Make collecting welfare as humiliating as possible! Make 'em stand in lines. Make 'em write thank you notes to the taxpayers for their welfare! Mandatory sterilizations!
