 I love this one!
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23851011/from/ET/ Cars lining the street. A house full of young people. A keg and drinking games inside. Police thought they had an underage boozing party on their hands.
But though they made dozens of teens take breath tests, none tested positive for alcohol. That's because the keg contained root beer.
...
Dustin Zebro, 18, said he staged the party after friends at D.C. Everest High School got suspended from sports because of pictures showing them drinking from red cups.
The root-beer kegger was "to kind of make fun of the school," he said. "They assumed there was beer in the cups. We just wanted to have some root beer in red cups and just make it look like a party, but there actually wasn't any alcohol."
Let's make sure any of those kids who are 18 are registered to vote! They sound like they have some brains AND humor. Unbeatable combination. We need their energy and inventiveness!
They taught some lessons about assumptions and stereotyping to the school admin, local law enforcement and local adults. They taught each other that fun can be had while pointing out the danger of judging without proof, and that it doesn't take booze to have a good time, that with a bit of thought and planning, fun can be had within the law AND making some important socio-political points. WIN/WIN
Bravo!
Sorry if this is old news to you all here, but I missed it when it happened. Just got link in email today from a brother who knows I love kids finding ways to have clean, constructive fun in life.
