7. If you're watching on NASA tv, keep an eye on the air speed of the shuttle.
Even after it enters the atmosphere, the speed is absolutely mind boggling.

8. Oh yeah, for sure! And the descent is scary too...I've practiced emergency descents
that are very similar...>10000 ft/min :scared: :D

14. In the first days of the shuttle, they described it as a brick with wings.
It doesn't really "glide".

10. kewl, they should pass over my house about 8:35 or thereabouts
Hopefully everything goes well and they land safely. Now, if they were to cut out the military uses of space, I would support NASA all the way.

20. Looks like this one is going right over head this time.
...I lived in Orlando in the early 1990's and not only hear them, I actually saw one go over head once.
