Democrats say they will Impeach if Bush* attacks Iran but....
Will the "votes be there". If the USA is engaged activly in a realwar with another nation as will happen if we attack Iran, will Congress have the nerve to launch an Impeachment? If we thought they were cowards after the IWR vote, how do you think they will be after we launch a major offensive against Iran? IMO there will be virtually no opposition at all because they will be called traitors for being against an Administration activily involved in a real war. America will rally around the flag after Iran responds with a missile strike against one of our war ships in the region. For Democrats this is the very worst case scenerio and believe me Cheney and Bush* know that...Be afraid because war is imminent, IMO..Russia and China will not take kindly to radioactive particles filtering down upon their nations from the USA either using nukes or blowing up nuclear facilities.

2. You have identified a strong motivation to launch such an attack.
It helps McCain.

3. What Democrats say that? I haven't heard anything even remotely hinting at that course of action.
Of course, someone saying that is major progress over taking it off the table. I guess our work is done.

12. Don't think so

There are literally reams of evidence of so much wrongdoing by this (mis-)administration just regarding the invasion/occupation of Iraq ALONE to warrant their impeachment (if not imprisonment in the Hague) NOW! If the Democrats in Congress aren't going to do anything about the unprovoked invasion and occupation of Iraq (and by all accounts they don't don't seem to be able/willing to do so), for which the Bush (mis-)administration has masterfully evaded ANY shred of accountability, then who's going to hold them accountable for another unprovoked attack on another country? How, in the midst of another "shock and awe" campaign, are Democrats in Congress actually going to be brave enough to start up impeachment proceedings against Bush/Cheney? Fortunately for the rest of us rational and peace-loving people, the military brass (and even Patreaus to some extent) seems to be holding the line on Bush, Cheney, and McCain's unquenched thirst for more war and, at least on a logistical level, our troops and resources are already substantially tied up in Iraq (which may be the ONLY "good" thing about Bush's "surge" strategy) and I honestly don't think that the public (and the military certainly) wants more war, at least judging by the "so" opinion polls. Hopefully, we will all be able to make it to the end of Bush/Cheney's term without them pulling the trigger on Iran or anybody else and possibly igniting WW3 or worse.
:scared:

13. America will not rally around this, there is no reason for this
Their attempt to justify this was destroyed by the NIE last fall and they have made no attempt to justify it except to say that the NIE is not valid which basically means our intelligence agencies are worthless.

15. I don't think anyone will impeach because lies do and don't count.
Dems can't impeach because they voted for the war on Iraq. They lied to us that they were not briefed correctly. They lied to the nation about Hussein being responsible for 9-11 - the key pivot point of all death and destruction from that day forward. Everyone is lying.

There are only a few true citizens in Congress. And only one Senator, Feingold, voted against the Patriot Act.

16. One word: Preemption.
Two words: Preemptively impeach

Many words: Read DU regularly, and you'll read of many reasons to impeach, and realize that impeachment evidence doesn't require conceptions of preemption.
