1. Well lets examine what is in a passport application
you fill out a ds11 form and submit it. I presume the government keeps a record of where you go, entry and exit.

Not something every jerk should be looking up but not exactly secret fbi wiretap.

It reads a someone looked up a PEP's records and got popped doing it.

Intelligence folks dont trip those systems.

2. At minimum it's a misdemeaner, if not a felony if any distribution is found
But hey, I don't care if the Gov taps my phone line, what do I have to hide. Same goes with making my travel records public.

5. In actuality, its a State Dept file, not just a passport application & it contains very sensitive
information. Like the names of your relatives in other countries, where they live, their occupations & affiliations, etc.

Lots of info regarding your rights / claims to citizenship.

Loads of personal information (financial, DOBs, SSN, addresses, affiliations).

Travel movements / visas requested / granted is simply one part of it.

Throw into the mix that we are talking about a Secret Service protected US Presidential Candidate, and it is One Very Big Deal Indeed.
