***BREAKING: The jury sent a note to Judge Walton at the end of the day today. I've been informed that the contents of the note will be addressed in open court at 9:30 am ET tomorrow morning, following a previously scheduled matter that was already book in for 9:00 am ET. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. Could be as innocuous as a question about the meaning of a jury instruction, or as substantive as a verdict or a deadlock. We won't know anything further until tomorrow morning. I've got this from two separate sources at the courthouse. Hang onto your hats, kids — and see you in the morning. — CHS***

Probably routine, but I'll keep a hand near my hat.

2. New Update from Christy at FDL:
***UPDATE: I'm told the note from the jury was a question of some sort, but nothing about the type or subject of the question. Just FYI. We'll find out in the morning.***

11. TIME: The jury is wearing jeans!
More Deliberations in Libby Case
Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007 By AP/MICHAEL J. SNIFFEN

(WASHINGTON) — The jury is wearing jeans! The scuttlebutt raced like a battlefront bulletin Tuesday through the five dozen prosecutors, defense attorneys and reporters camped in the federal courthouse awaiting a verdict in the perjury trial of ex-White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby.

Most trial lawyers and reporters believe jurors dress up when they expect to reach a verdict and don casual clothes if they've still got lots of work to do.

The secrecy of jury deliberations provides precious few clues about where juries are headed.

"It isn't like electing a pope, where there are smoke signals after each ballot," said Edward B. MacMahon Jr., a Virginia attorney who defended Zacarias Moussaoui against charges related to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

14. they could ask for clarification on one of the charges
ask the judge to read the charge again and explain the meaning of "obstructing" justice or something like that.

FDL reported how Fitz appears to be pleased the jury is taking this long...they were in deliberations for 8 days before they convicted George Ryan.

23. They're probably getting subliminal death threats from Cheney.
How would you like to be on a jury that is deciding such a high profile case? Fitz told the jury that Libby lied and obstructed justice to protect Cheney. Knowing what Cheney is willing to do to people (rendition, torture and who knows what else), it would be scary. I hope they are strong people.
