I called my sis in Atlanta today to see if they were affected by the horrible weather. They were fine. We chat for ages and she gave me a lovely story about my five year old grand niece aka Madame Gorgeous. Madame Gorgeous was watching a program on TV about kids with cancer. She was deeply moved. That night she asked her dad to make a 'pointment' with her hairdresser for her since she wanted to cut her hair. She didn't tell him why. Her mom made the appointment the next day and MG gave the hairdresser instructions - put my hair in a ponytail and cut it off because I want to send it to a little girl who has cancer.

We are so proud of little Madame Gorgeous. It was her idea from start to finish. There is hope. I am too thrilled.:D

About 25 years ago my stepmom was dying of cancer and took chemo and lost her hair. My wife took her shopping for a wig and both of them got one and did each other's new hair. It was a wonderful time for all of us.

Your grand niece is a champ.

We meandered to the quarter today and I pigged out on fried shrimp and fried okra and an incredible order of potato salad at Pralines on Frenchmen "The Best Soul Food in New Orleans." Lord I was transplanted to heaven if only for a short period of time. My wife got their baked chicken (I had a few nibbles.) With the exception of my Grandmom's it was the best chicken on the planet.

4. Very cool! My sons have each grown 10" ponytails...

...to donate to Locks of Love ~ such a wonderful cause! Last summer my husband decided to get in on the act and is about ready to donate his first ponytail.

6. Our oldest daughter has done that

When my wifes friend was diagnosed with cancer and lost her hair through chemo, my oldest who was 17 at the time decided to cut her hair for cancer.

Some times you never know them until they do something like that.

Our youngest sis died from cancer in 2005 but I didn't think she even understood at that time.

18. young children tend to have

psychic abilities. their imaginary friends many times are their "spirit guides". as they get older they tend to lose that ability.
