Syria blasts 'hypocritical' addition to US torture blacklist
Syria accused the United States of hypocrisy on Wednesday after it added the Damascus regime to a blacklist of "the world's most systematic human rights violators." The foreign ministry said that the history of abuses by US personnel in the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and the allegations surrounding the Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba denied Washington any right to set itself up as an arbiter of human rights.
And the Syrians are right. We need to clean our own house before we start pointing fingers at others. Of course, our president is just provoking them. He REALLY wants another war.—Caro
