I'm sure "Kristen" now has an agent, publicist, producer, and record label.
I guess, as a producer of alternative music, I get a bit annoyed by artists who spring to the top through these stories. I guess this is her lucky break.

The MSM, as well as Huffington, are basically continuing to pimp her through links to her Myspace music site, a site where people can actually buy her music, as well as links to a bundle of sexy pictures.

Its nothing new in this business - grabbing attention through sex and innuendo - but just frustrating to see her music site get 1,500,000 plays in 6 hours yesterday, while hundreds of local musicians struggle to get 30 people to their site a day.

Her music isn't bad - average hip-hop / R&B - average voice. Just a lucky break - that call to go to room 821 at the Mayflower to meet Client 9.

Good luck to her - hope she gets a good lawyer.

4. People will remember her name
and she will be headlining tabloid TV long after people forget who Elliot Spitzer is.

Sadly that's how it works.

6. Her music, much like she, SUCKS.
She represent all that is wrong with the music industry. No-talent tits and ass, (and a hooker to boot). Is this what it takes to "make it" in the music industry. God help us we are surrounded by garbage. No wonder EMI went down the toilet.

21. Her singing wasn't bad..I agree..but even..
with polishing I don't think she'd be an exceptional talent. It's just a very nice, mediocre voice. Of course, that means that she's bound to get a record deal any minute because that's what the music industry seems to be pumping out these days...nice, unexceptional voices.

He didn't even speak to them yesterday after his resignation, but his wife did. They are the ones who will suffer the most.

10. I hope she makes what she can of it.
People like Spitzer were born into a multitude of choices and opportunities that "Kristin" never had.

I hope she can make a bundle off the tabloids and whoever else is willing to pay her, and that she's wise enough to invest that money wisely.

I NEVER resent a member of the underclass lucking into a way out of poverty, regardless of how. If it's at a rich hypocrite's expense, all the better.

12. If she's a lounge singer, she'll be happy.
A singer is a singer. I doubt it will be that good. Right now she's believing all publicity is good publicity.

How's her family taking it?

14. Kristen comes from nothing. Good for her. What bothers me...
...is when people are able to sell their "art" simply because they are rich/famous already.

Example - 1960s rocker Grace Slick. Her amateurish paintings sell in Marin County boutiques for tens of thousands of dollars, simply because any rich f**k in Marin of a certain age would LOVE to have a painting by GRACE SLICK hanging on the wall to impress his/her boomer friends.

Meanwhile, real artists continue to starve as amateurs like Slick add to their already bulging coffers...

I think Kristin's windfall is much more well-deserved. God knows how many nasty old jerks she had to service just to afford her little flat in Manhattan. Good for her.

24. Picasso was the same way
He knew he could get big bucks for anything he threw on canvas, or any piece of pottery he threw, as long as it had his name on it.

Nothing new.

16. This is a lame argument, the same as aimed at "American Idol". People get breaks; it's show-biz.
Edited on Thu Mar-13-08 12:02 PM by WinkyDink
Models are discovered walking down streets; actresses sitting at soda-fountains; actors merely accompanying a friend to an audition; singers taping themselves for youtube; and innumerable others being born to the right show-biz parent(s).

18. Thats exactly what i said - no argument - thats show biz
I don't have to like it. I don't like some of it. I like some it.
If you are in this business, yea - you look for breaks.
When someone gets one - good for them. I wish her music was better.

Kelly Clarkson - I like.
Daughtry - not so much.

Fine Frenzy - Love.

Flav-o-flav...can do without.

Its media.

20. At the end of the day, she is a business woman.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool.

She pulls in big bucks and like someone pointed out on another thread, she has an 11K per month apartment in Manhattan.

She's using this as her rocket ride to success.

If this was some low end 3 street walker, I would seriously doubt it. But she being the high dollar ceiling tile counter she is, I'm more than sure she has scored herself a nice little groups of little sycophants that just want to "help her" get through this tough time.

My question is: how come she's not getting charged for prostitution?

22. no evidence, really
the only evidence is that Spitzer paid her to come entertain him, she could easily claim that she was singing for him and get off. it's remarkably hard to convict a prostitute without catching them in flagrante delicato, so to speak.

and they would rather have her testimony against Spitzer than vice versa. there are a thousand of her in Manhattan, only one governor.
