Why isn't MSM reporting on what is happening to everyday Americans?
Such as a COSTLY war in Iraq in both lives and money and the horrible ecomony where wheat shortages, corn shortages (because food is being changed into fuel)and rising prices for energy, for feed for our farmers raising food, for transportation of that food, for us getting to/from work, for the poor being in more dire situtations for both heating and transportation besides trying to eat! And what about the almighty 'Murikan dollar dropping so low worldwide? And this list could go on and on!

Why aren't these things being reported on other than a 30 second spot on the news or making the headlines in print?

1. Because then people might do something about it
as opposed to being ignorant and easily influenced to buy a lot of crap and vote for the people exploiting them?

The meda is the propaganda tool of the corporations and pushes their agenda.

9. That was my first thought
and wanted to add that they'll be happy to blame it on the Democrats as soon as that's possible.

2. Because the government relies on American ignorance to stay in power
...and the media's corporate parent companies rely on the government to keep letting them make huge profits.

But there's no conflict of interest there, nope, none at all.

3. The TeeVee Is An Escape...
Why do people watch soap operas? Or get sucked up in American Idol or Survivor? It's an escape from what ails them. The "wisdom" of the teevee manipulators is that viewers tune in to get away from bad things...to climb into the "dream machine" and want the things that make them look and feel better...either by tearing down someone's life or teasing them with fantasy. Reality only plays on teevee as a necessary evil...and then a minimal one at best. Even the "news" channels feed to the escapism...and the ratings show this is what people want.

Sadly, this country has many who see facing reality only when its forced upon them...but fortunately we have sources now we didn't have in the past via the internet that bypasses the teevee filter...and more and more people who want and need to know are finding out...and is turning into a large, informed and primarily Democratic electorate.

4. because sex scandals and crazy celebrities are 'sexy' and provide distractions from
the things that really matter.

See, things that really matter are so boring, and remind people that we've become third-world police state.

5. Most DUer's aren't ignorant - how come there are so many others who are?
I really can't grasp how those people stay so uninformed? I think the MSM helps keep them that way and may full well be the cause of the untold numbers who don't get it, but I don't understand why people don't inform themselves better, especially when the media isn't doing it for them!

6. Because totalitarian nations do not report on the condition of their subjects
Such things only serve to confuse we Inferiors (as the Bushies see all of us) as discontent us with our natural station in life, which is to serve our Superiors, the Bushies.

That is the sad reality, and it is too far gone to ever turn back now without far greater upheaval than we are willing to endure.

7. MSM is a slave to their sponsors and Corporate Owners.
The MSM will sing zippiddy do-da until the very end and not report things as properly as they should.

8. They're hoping we don't believe our lying eyes
and instead buy their cheerful chirping on how great the economy is. If we're not doing that well, we're supposed to blame ourselves for being lazy or blind to the huge opportunities that are constantly being offered to us, you see, and we're never supposed to ask how long it's going to take us to pay off all that debt we've been living on because our wages haven't kept pace with the inflation we're not supposed to be seeing.

You see, if they don't report it, it's just not happening, not really.

15. They Wont
MSNBC pretends it's the political network but is so entrenched in the democratic primary it ignores most everything else with the exception of the Spitzer scandal.

IMHO the media is corporate owned and they want the news reported slanted so it doesn't make other corporations look bad. If you don't read the ticker tape or read you won't know what is happening. I have seen more issues affecting Americans discussed here than on any MSM outlet.

16. I don't know where my mother-in-law saw this, but she said some
people interviewed in CA said they were going to start driving off without paying for gas in protest of the oil companies big profits, and they hoped everyone would do it. I told her it won't work: the retail gas outlets would start requiring all payment up front, or require use of the credit card at the pump. IOW, it will just make tanking up harder for everyone else.

But I wouldn't mind a couple of free tanks of gas.

17. It drives me up the wall. The country is sinking in quicksand and
all the MSM can do is slice and dice the latest political poll. Here and there in the "business news" we get a glimpse of the debacle. When the Carlyle Group (read: Papa Bush and James Baker) is collapsing, the media might at least look at what is happening to the people struggling to buy food and fuel.
