Amazing , media spinning webs .
As we seem to approach another terrorist attack , well possibly the main media is still going on about Anna Nicholes rotting corpse and the shaved head no hair style and now they drag this poor traumatized young boy who was kidnapped right out in front of the camera and this will probably be the big news for the next few weeks .

I really do believe 80% of the US population gets all their news off these insane media hype shows .

While this continues cheney travels the globe doing god knows what and bush visits labs . Here we are with an out of control bush /cheney funneling money to terrorist organizations , battle groups build up in the gulf , Israel gets clearence to fly zones all heading for the grand opening of WW III .

I am going certified nuts as well as many of other here .

1. It is impossible for me to square
..the absurdity of the calm, cool, and collected manner of every day life, while the apocalyptic world events loom in the background.

2. I struggle with that myself. It's an unreal backdrop.

3. In fairness though we've had lots of practice as a nation
I mean we did have a coldwar which was arguably more dangerous - as bad as terrorists are, they don't have nuclear bombs pointed at every major city in America. We lived with that, we'll live with this I suppose.

4. True enough...
but Bush/Cheney at the helm this time scares the crap out of me, more than any other "condition" presently on this earth.

Well, shall we go arrange some more deck chairs? :scared::banghead:

9. I tend to view the present...
as a culmination of everything that's come before...a logical evolution. While this nation may have loads of experience with torture, coups, mass-murder etc., my mind can only take in so much. I often wonder what my grandparents knew about their government.

You would think this would be the headlines all over the planet , especially here in the US but this just evaporated as yesterdays news , gone all except for the blobs and a few liberal talk radio shows .

These are truely dangerous times more so than the cold war where we did have nations talking and trying to keep a cool head but new we have no cool heads in control just madmen rubbing their hands together anticipating the big win for their benefit .

I remember the year of the cold war and this is nothing like we have now with some looming shaddow government taking aim and marking targets .

This is what they mean by way forward or stay the course and they are on course all right .

11. 9/11 was a tear in the fabric of everyday life, advertisers/marketeers quick to patch
the News Business has something to sell -- and real news does not sell

So, do more shopping -- that's what the Frat Boy in Chef recommends.

8. any guesses on a time frame?
I think that it is very ominous that dick is running around to our allies and other theaters having meetings while Condi has disappeared to toss bombs at the dems. I hate to guess at things like this, but I am keeping a full tank of gas, plenty of bottled water, and a plan to get out of the city to let the chaos die down.

Call me crazy if you wanna, but now might be a good time to get your hurricane, earthquake, emergency survial kit ready and topped off. I might also suggest following the lead of the mormons and stocking away the food because when the SHTF moment arrives, the trucks will stop running and groceries will not make it to store shelves. Like I said, call me crazy. If I'm completely wrong, I've got a good hurricane kit for summer. If I'm right, I've got a headstart on most everybody else.

12.  I don't blame you .
It is good to be prepared . I don't know when they plan this attack , things do seem to keep building up more and more everyday .

The thing that is making this more alarming is the talk about the attack is not going away or calming down at all , instead it is building up which tells me it is a reality .

There is no point in using this as a distraction since the focal point now is still on Iraq and the so called surge .

The house is sitting on their hands even with this .

I felt the attack would be this month but there is talk about march or april .

The main thing is , no one is going to come out and raise the alarm to tell Iran when , let alone telling us . I may happen just like 9/11 with or without some said terrorist attack on the US as a second 9/11 event .

The other thing is the economy is so screwed up and how they continue to ignore New Orleans and the Miss gulf coast , this tells me the people are low of the list of priorities . You can die in this country from starvation or many other means of dispare and no one cares but a few so another terrorist attack will add to the fear of the people who are still doing ok so far . Add to this the way the troops are ignored in their care and equipment , what does this tell everyone , who are the important ones , not the citizen , count on that .
