Not to minimize the assassanation attempt on Cheney
Edited on Tue Feb-27-07 11:42 AM by Bluzmann57
but was he really ever in danger? I think that heads of state in the U.S. are the most protected people in the world. He was probably in some secure area even as the bombing took place and never faced any real danger. I believe this was a symbolic attempt by the would be assassains, Al Qaida or whomever, and they knew that Cheney was never in real danger. But just to clarify, I do think this was a real and serious threat and should not be minimized at all.
on edit- I do not buy into any theories that people may have about Cheney setting these bombs off, or having others do it for him. I reiterate, I believe that Al Qaida or some group of terrorists really and truly set off bombs, even though they may have known that no real harm would come to Cheney, except for possibly wiping crap from his drawers. Just wanted to clarify that point.

1. Based on the details known, no Cheney was not
the only reason he was still there to begin with was that he couldn't fly out due to bad weather. So they probably found out he was still there and sent a bomber on short notice without realistic prospects of success. Like a love tap.

4. Yes, on his way to meet Karzai
But the insurgents probably found out from a janitor or something like the VC used to.

5. It's just the normal bombings
That happen in between the "enormous successes," you know, like in Iraq.
