MSNBC reporting that Cheney targeted in attack at Baqram base in Afghanistan.
Edited on Tue Feb-27-07 06:14 AM by Skidmore
Just heard in Imus. Ole Chuckie McCord is stressing the not to worry part--Cheney was in no danger. Keeps repeating that. There were apparently 8 bodies seen on the site after the attack.

Edited to add that they are reporting that Cheney was on the base at the time but well away from the blast site.

3. I'm sure this will send him scurrying back to his ultra-secret, hidely hole.
Too bad they can't cut him off from any communications with the outside world when he's hidden away in his undisclosed location. The world would be a much safer place.

I read a news report from a suspect source here yesterday saying that there was an assassination attempt on Cheney in Australia (at the airport) and three people were killed. The report said special forces.

Now my head is spinning.

Cheney meets Afghan president after suicide blast

KABUL (AFP) - US Vice President Dick Cheney met President Hamid Karzai in the Afghan capital Tuesday, hours after a suicide blast at the US base where he had spent the night killed several people, an official said.

The leaders met at the presidential palace in Kabul, an official in the Afghan leader's office said, giving no further details.

They were due to pose for photographers after their talks.

Cheney and Karzai had been due to meet Monday but bad weather prevented the vice president from travelling to the city from Bagram Air Base, about 60 kilometres (37 miles) away, where he had arrived from Pakistan.

......Cheney's spokeswoman said he was not injured in the incident.

"The vice president is safe," spokeswoman Lea Anne McBride said. "The vice president is fine."

The Afghan interior ministry said earlier 18 people were killed in the attack, which took place around 10am local time while Cheney was preparing to depart the base.

"Initial reports are stating that 18 people were killed and three of them are foreign soldiers," interior ministry spokesman Zemarai Bashary told AFP.

"The 15 others are civilian Afghan workers who wanted to enter Bagram air base for their work. On injuries we do not have exact reports."

He did not specify if the dead soldiers at the base -- the largest US military facility in the strife-torn country -- were Americans..........

16. Hmmmm, the other day his plane had problems
And today he is in the location of a truck bomb. If I was a suspicious person, I would wonder who would like to see him out of the picture. Ya know with the Scooter trial leading to Cheney himself, one has to wonder?

Cheney OK after Afghan Blast; 14 killed

By ALISA TANG, Associated Press Writer 15 minutes ago

BAGRAM, Afghanistan - A suicide bomber attacked the entrance to the main U.S. military base in
Afghanistan Tuesday during a visit by Vice President
Dick Cheney, killing at least 14 people and wounding a dozen more. The Taliban claimed responsibility and said Cheney was the target.

Cheney's spokeswoman said he was fine, and the vice president later met with President Hamid Karzai in the capital, Kabul, before leaving the country.

There were conflicting reports on the death toll. Provincial Gov. Abdul Jabar Taqwa said 20 people were killed, while
NATO said initial reports indicated three fatalities, including a U.S. soldier, a South Korean coalition soldier and a U.S. government contractor whose nationality wasn't immediately known. NATO said 27 people also were wounded.

It was unclear why there was such a large discrepancy in the reports.

24. Why the hell do Bush, Cheney and Rice and Prince Fuckin Harry
insist on having photo-ops with their political human shields -- also known as the armed forces -- when all it does is strain resources, and as we see, put lives in danger when a big target goes there and the Islamic radicals we put in charge leak like a sieve to insurgents? Why?
