I got fired on 2-22-07, a year later I'm getting promoted
Edited on Fri Mar-07-08 05:38 PM by Omaha Steve

For those that don't know I was illegally fired last year. It was blatantly in retaliation for an ADA charge I filed against my former supervisor with the EEOC. My union filed for binding arbitration. The city settled 4 days before the hearing. The settlement included my reinstatement with back pay, benefits, etc... I just learned I'm getting promoted. It should take effect when I return to work from my surgery scheduled for next Friday. I've been home the last two days on pain meds. Once in a while the shoulder causes neck pain that turns into a headache. That should end after the surgery.

Omaha Steve

Not that often, but sometimes...

7. You'll probably find that dreading the surgery is worse than the surgery
I feel your pain. My next eye surgery is in a week.

I hope we both have a great outcome and get well soon. Pain sucks. So does blindness.

10. Okay, but besides . . .
Okay, but besides the grievance process, the weekend, paid time off, employer paid insurance, equal treatment, contract rights, and equitable dispute resolution, what has the union ever done for you?

20. Congratulations to you for getting the promotion
and for fighting when you felt you'd been wronged.

And to your union for actually going to bat for you and winning, instead of being a useless paper tiger, like the last one I belonged to.

Hope you feel better soon, too.

29. He is one of the top orthopedics in the area

I was first sent to Doctor Ray. Semi retired knee man. He only had x-rays done even though I begged for an MRI. He said it was a sprain and to back to work on full duty. No pain meds, no therapy, no MRI. Two weeks later when the shoulder started swelling up, my own personal physician ordered the MRI. The shit then hit the fan. Dr. Kaiser is doing the work.
