Publicly Labeled a Jewish Man as a Nazi Who Sent other Jews to Hitler’s Death Trains, Do You Think it Would Harm My Rep?

Michelle Malkin is saddened — nay, grief-stricken — that wingnut hate-radio host Melanie Morgan has been fired from Citadel Radio’s San Francisco Bay-area KSFO radio station. Of course, Ms. Morgan traffics in unusually reprehensible views, even for the right, my emphasis:

As Media Matters for America previously noted, during the February 8 (2007) Morning Show, (Morgan’s co-host Lee) Rodgers repeated and embellished a discredited right-wing smear, claiming that (the Jewish George) Soros (denied he was a Jew and) "apparently very cheerfully and willingly went to work for the Nazis,"….For her part, Morgan alleged — without explanation — that Soros did so "(i)n order to further his own career."

During the February 26 broadcast, (KFSO Program Director Ken) Berry retracted their remarks:

BERRY: During our February 8th broadcast, the hosts of this program mistakenly stated that financier George Soros "cheerfully" and "willingly" went to work for the Nazis after his native Hungary was occupied during World War II, when Mr. Soros was 13 years old. The hosts also mistakenly stated that Mr. Soros "ran around Hungary with Nazi officials, serving eviction notices to people who were going to be shipped out on the death trains," and that he did so "to further his own career." These statements are not accurate, and KSFO regrets that they were broadcast.

But be of good cheer! For Malkin assures us thus about Morgan, the repugnant defamer of Jews Morgan doesn’t like: "I know she’ll land on her feet. She’s a mover, shaker, and fighter–and a big asset to the conservative movement."

You betcha, Michelle. Falsely accusing Jews of being Nazis and sending other Jews to "death trains" is okee-dokey, as long as the vile Right Wing Noise Machine exists to forgive such "minor" calumnies for the greater good of promoting war throughout the Middle East; the neocon right will certainly find another niche for the talented Ms. Morgan.

Don't drink and compute. That's the advice I always give myself, which I have promptly ignored.

But a couple of thoughts tonight as I swill a few adult beverages.

I lost a job today, but I didn't lose a child.I didn't lose a limb. And I didn't lose my passion for our troops.

My great friend Debbie Lee, whose son Marc Alan Lee, the first Navy Seal to die in the fighting in Iraq, called me to console me about being laid-off today.

(SAN FRANCISCO) – Renowned radio personality and national conservative leader, Melanie Morgan, delivered her final broadcast on talk radio powerhouse KSFO 560 AM today – Monday, March 3, 2008.

The owner of KSFO radio, Citadel Broadcasting, decided not to renew Morgan’s contract as part of the company’s announced across-the-board financial cost cutting.
