in the beginning of the week only to slowly but surely go back to where it was the Friday before. Well, approximately....

5. It is just a widdle slowdown!!
That is what Georgie Boy said yesterday, so it must be true. He was also extremely surprised at the fact that gas prices are going to be $4.00 a gallon by spring.

10. Or maybe because it's been UP more than 300 points in the past month too?
At 12,300 it's still higher than some days in this month alone.

23. it's ALL good
if your a trader you make money off volatility - down or up doesn'tmatter

for longer term investors, selloffs often offer opportunity to find value

this is very healthy for the market. what would be REALLY healthy would be another 1-2k down on the dow to flush out weak hands, reestablish some value, and get the credit risk crisis mostly unwound.

not sayingits gonna happen, but it would be nice

44. Context is that despite emergency rate cuts and massive infusion of money by
the Fed, it is well below the October 9, 2007 close of 14164. The potential resulting damage to the working class by these actions in generating an inflationary spiral is very troubling. But you are right the 300 pt drop, in and of itself, is not really that significant but coupled with all the other factors it makes me concerned.

25. the time to buy gold and silver
was $600 an ounce ago

here's a general hint: buy when everybody hates it and sell when everybody loves it

works for gold, oil, stocks, real estate, etc.

rinse, lather repeat.

no way in heck am i calling a top in gold, i just find it funny how everybody loves gold at 950+ and everybody hated it at 300

from an investment angle - see above advice

for trading- you can buy high and sell higher. but that is not recommended for retail

they tend to buy tops and sell bottoms

37. A Confusing Market...
I'm sure the market still finished the week on the "up", but it's still not a good thing to plunge neraly 350 points...with most of it during the final trading hours of the week. Monday could be quite a wild ride.

The rise in oil and consumer prices is shutting this economy down...and don't let the corporate media say different. The "big shitpile" credit crunch is shutting off whatever extra consumer spending...everyone's battened down the hatches. Oil rises, the dollar continues to fade against the Euro and the debt grows larger...there's only so much funny money Helicopter Ben can fly into the Fed to stave off the inevitable busts that are sure to happen due to this recession/depression.
