I picked it because it sounded kinda "underground" to me. Maybe it was the X-files association. I don't know.

An astute DUer pointed out that it could be derived from the phrase http://www.thefreedictionary.com/mule+skinner">mule skinner, except that I am more of a donkey skinner. (Get it? Donkeys are Democrats.)

These days I prefer to think of it as a reference to Principal Skinner, because I'm the principal of DU:

It's a no-brainer to vote democratic in November. That Hillary/Obama thing seems made up and hyped. The Wright story is disturbing only in that there's been all that tabloid-like distraction. It reminds me of the Kenneth Starr days, where the Republicans placed the focus on everything else than what needed to be done.

31. Well, we met some folks who went to the Obama gathering today.

It was a beautiful day here in Portland and those folks really got sunburned.

They said it was a great crowd. (My husband fondly remembers the big crowd for Kerry four years ago.) Alas and alack...
