Can we have a little "fun" with our tinfoil this morning?
Here is my nightmare scenario:

John McCain looks VERY ill to me. See this post and discussion regarding his health:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=4671495&mesg_id=4671495

I think it was rather odd how all of a sudden both Jebby and Poppy Bush came out all gushing and glowing over John McCain, both endorsing him just a day or two apart, right after Mittsy announced he was giving up the ghost. The whole thing made me :tinfoilhat: I think McCain probably made a deal with them.

So, here's what I think "the deal" is. The Bush family in return for their support will get to choose McCain's running mate for him. You see, the Bush junta probably understands that McCain likely wouldn't last four years, much less eight. Heck, he might not even make it to November the way he looks.

The person that they choose (likely Mittsy) will agree to these terms: When McCain has to step down "for health reasons", and the V.P. takes over as President, Jeb will be appointed V.P.

What say you?

1. That sounds workable to me. The Bush Crime Family will try
some way to get Jebby into the WH. Your scenario is likelier than some I've seen.

2. You're right on ...
although I would tend to think Jeb gets VP right out of the box. There is no reason for the cons to play around considering they have the election in the bag with Obama on the dem ticket.

Obama is easy to defeat and the cons know this election is for SCOTUS. They will vote for the republican ticket regardless of VP and in mass.

That dem:rep ratio of 2:1 we have been seeing will quickly disappear as the 'dems for a day to defeat Hillary cons' come out in mass to back their ticket. Obama will be defeated so badly it will be embarrassing.

Bet on it.

3. I have a hard time believing Jeb will be on the ticket.
My take is they are coming out to at least show some "unity". I think McCain is being used by all of them as a springboard to 2012.

6. He won't be on the ticket..
he'll be the replacement V.P. assuming McCain gets elected and has to step down. That's my scenario.

9. Unless the repubs take back the Senate,
Edited on Wed Feb-20-08 10:31 AM by madinmaryland
I don't think Mittens would appoint Jeb. (assuming Mittens is the Veep).

The Senate does have to approve a vp appointment, and with a democratically controlled Senate, I don't think it would happen.

On edit: The name "bush" is going to be toxic for a few years. When was the last time a repub candidate uttered that word?

13. That's why I think it's so odd that McCain..
is taking the stage and holding hands with Poppy and Jeb. What the hell is the dynamic there?

19. the senate has to approve only...

if McCain and Mittens are in office. I believe if this happens before they take office only the RNC needs to approve.

20. That is correct. If McCain were to withdraw
after the Convention, it would throw the repubs into chaos. I don't think they will risk even in that scenario, putting Jeb on the ticket. The name is too toxic at this point.

4. How would Jeb get confirmed as VP by a Democratic-majority senate?
I'm not even sure many repubs would entertain the idea.

10. You shouldn't presume the dems
will still hold the senate.

It looks like major turnout for the republicans and low turnout for the democrats.

That translates to losing the senate and in case of a tie the republicans will have Lieberman.

12. Only 22 Dems voted against John Roberts as Chief Justice..
granted, not exactly the same thing, but you just never know in which direction group think is going to herd them.

5. He's had recurring melanoma--that's pretty serious. I'm sure the GOP
understands that he may come out of remission, espescially given his age and the assault to his immune system from the exhaustive campaign trail and the stressful office he's seeking. I will be watching, probably horrified, to see who they choose for his VP. Hopefully, Obama will end up putting the old cruster out of his misery and into a stress-free happy retirement.

7. I really want to see who Uncle Nutsy McCain picks as his freeper veeper
that'll let me know what is up in funky town. if he picks someone tied to bush (ie Jeb) I will start screaming about the 'piggyback president'. I figure that Mittens is likely calling him lately begging for the spot.

11. Possible, but cosmically stupid on their part.
Edited on Wed Feb-20-08 10:35 AM by realpolitik
If they do that, expect really ugly things to happen inside the wide stance party and without.

My prediction.

No one named Bush is ever again going to take residence in a federal facility with an open door policy.

They actually believe that their endorsement *means* anything to a voting American.

14. The Bush crime family isn't going anywhere..
they may crawl back in a hole for a while, but they'll still be pulling lots of strings. Cheney is building a nice new mansion near the CIA Headquarters. Doesn't sound like he's ready to retire just yet.

and that's the last thing they want for Condi.
