ByeBye Mushie - Opposition supporters celebrating victory in Pakistan
looks like Mushie better start building that family mausoleum.

<snip>
Opposition supporters are celebrating victory in Pakistan after an election intended to complete the transition from military to civilian rule.

They are confident supporters of President Pervez Musharraf are heading for a heavy defeat.

Early unofficial returns suggest some of the president's allies have lost their seats, but it is expected to be some time before a clear trend emerges.

Asif Ali Zardari, Ms Bhutto's widower and the leader of her PPP party, had threatened to launch street protests if the election was rigged.

One international election observer, US Senator Joseph Biden, said he feared instability if electoral malpractice was suspected.

Remember it's not over until Mushie says so. Stay Safe Joe Biden.

6. that's ok - media usually talks about it as Bhutto vs. Musharref vs.
that other one whose name I can't remember (shame on me too)

I didn't get it until Biden called some of the other candidates on getting it wrong! :)

2. I'm glad to hear that because that's an indication the elections weren't rigged
as they'd feared. (I guess when you have three representatives watching you from the country who holds the checkbook, that's incentive not to pull any shenanigans.)

Am I correct in my understanding that Musharraf is still the "President" -- and this person will be the Prime Minister?

I'm interested in seeing what transpires and what changes will occur as a result of this.

Thanks for posting! :hi:

10. BREAKING -- Musharraf wins -- exit polls 'in error'.
Nahhhhh -- even they wouldn't try that.
