2. they fail to make these simple, obvious points, but even if they did, the media would likely not...
cover it.

Every once in a while I'll be bitching about something the Democrats haven't done, then when I do some research, I find out that they did try but the press didn't cover it, much like the challenge of the electoral votes in 2004 which got a couple of paragraphs on A14 in the LA Times, or the 2000 challenge which didn't get any.
