Someone gave me a star! (Plus, DU musings)

I started out posting this in the Lounge because it's not really political, but then I figured that I spend most of my time here so whoever gave me the star probably does too.

OMG! I can't donate because my mother is a victim of Republican economic policies (I sent her my Christmas bonus from work and it broke my heart to hear her say that she spent some of it on groceries) and so what little spare money I have goes to her.

I owe someone on here a lot of gratitude. Seriously - you've more than made my day. I really really really appreciate it, and I hope that I can pay it back by contributing to DU with thoughts and emotion and caring about other posters if not with money. Whoever you are, you are a seriously wonderful person and gave me some faith in humanity - a hard thing to come by these days.

I know that sometimes I get a bit exasperated with DU - well, don't we all? But my two hearts and my star made me think - yeah, maybe we all come from different backgrounds and have different abilities and different ways of being in the world, but most of us are here because we care about the world and about each other and about the future. Give me passionate argument over obedient lockstep marching any day. :)

I've found wonderful links on here that gave me access to knowledge that led to new insights. I've read intense discussions and arguments about prejudice that really opened my mind to how other people think and how they see the world. I've observed us all come together for a fellow member in need, and that also gave me a faith in the species that is usually so hard to find.

You guys are my faith in humanity. Thank you so much for being you.

And again, a really really really huge thank you to whoever gave me the star. You rock seriously hard, and I won't forget what you've done for me.
