I'm way behind, but I finally found my heart!

Thank you to the sweet person who gave me a heart this afternoon! I hate to admit it, since this is just an "anonymous" message board, but I actually did feel kind of bad that I hadn't gotten any hearts. Not because I want to be "popular" or anything like that, but because there are so many great people here that I wish I knew better, either IRL or just online. I've only lived in my new (very small, right-wing, closed-society) town for a few months, and I haven't made any friends except my coworkers. So over the last few months, often the only meaningful interaction I have with like-minded adults comes from here.

And I wish that I had more to contribute, but so often I just read posts or respond with one-liners or just a few sentences here and there. It's not that I don't WANT to participate, it's just that when I get to DU at the end of the day or on the weekends, my current situation leaves me little mental energy to engage intelligently. I'll try harder to be a more active and supportive DUer.

Mostly, though, I just want to say thanks, not only to the person who made my crappy afternoon SO much better, but to all of you guys, for being so smart, critical, funny, and challenging. :hi:

How sweet of you. I still regret that awful fight we had that night (awful to me, anyway) and even though I sometimes disagree with you (and maybe even because I do), I definitely think of YOU as being a major contributor to what I love about DU. :)
