:sarcasm:

I'll go along with the fact that the NFL is a bunch of greedy assholes, but I can think of some other issues where corporate greed is inflicting hardship on the American people which probably could be acted on, yet seem to go unnoticed...:eyes:

Sen. Arlen Specter, the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, introduced a bill this week that would allow houses of worship to show football games on big-screen televisions.

The legislation was among a flurry of action taken this week as the result of an article Friday in The Washington Post reporting that churches were canceling Super Bowl parties out of fear of lawsuits from the NFL if they showed the game on jumbo TV screens.

The league has sought to enforce its copyright of the Super Bowl by sending letters to churches warning them that showing the game on big-screen sets violates the league's copyright. The NFL allows sports bars to show the game on large TV sets but objects to similar viewings by other out-of-home large assemblies.

1. Next year I'm gonna got out Super Bowl caroling!
And send out Super Bowl cards. I'll have to find cards with a football or a stadium on them, though. Gotta stay true to the spirit of Super Bowl.

2. Has Arlen completely lost his marbles? He's becoming obsessed
with football and its regulations. Why doesn't he give up his seat and become football commissioner?

He became interested in this after his home team, Philadelphia Eagles lost the Super Bowl to New England only to bring up right before another Super Bowl in which New England was playing in.

9. now we have to fight the war against the superbowl?
for gauds' sake,I'm getting tired of fighting.

P>S> the bars pay for the freaking nfl package, they don't charge to see the game, they just provide atmosphere. Churches could probably do the same thing, but where does one draw the line between football and religion? That seems to be one topic our founding fathers forgot to think about.
