I mean yeah it doesn't stop at waterboarding, but the question of whether or not waterboarding is torture is still an amazing one.

6. It is torture, and has been torture.

but using torture provides two things.

One is that it provides "proof" of a shadowy, world-wide Islamic terrorist network that doesn't exist in real time.

Two is that it proves to the world that the US is a superpower, the only one there is in the world, and that international law does not make a difference, because the US has no plans to allow checks on their power or greed.

It's not sane, no, and it is a very short-term thing....in spite of the desire of folks like PNAC to maintain full-spectrum dominance forever. (Yep. Forever. Right. Wow, imagine that.)
