How come Uribe isn't considered to be a dictator?
Unlike Chavez, Uribe actually did change the Constitution to modify how long he could be President.

"In late 2007, Uribe, 55, said he might seek a third term when his current four-year term ends if a "disaster" happens. He didn't specify what kind of disaster would justify his running. Since then, Uribe has dodged the issue in public appearances.

Uribe, who was first elected in 2002, had the constitution changed in 2005 to be able to seek and win a second four-year term in 2006. The widely popular Uribe was reelected in 2006 with 62% of the votes."

If the media considers Chavez to be a strongman, what exactly does that make Uribe?

OK, I think I get it now, because Uribe's policies agree with the Bush Administration, the media considers him to be a charismatic good leader only seeking new term after new term, he's definitely not a man with aspirations of being President-for-Life, right?

1. Because he is our thug.
All of very concerned anti chavez posters here are just stunned into silence when it comes to the Washington backed thugs still in power in parts of Latin America. Uribe who?

2. "He may be a bastard, but he's our bastard."
As FDR said of Samoza who makes Uribe look like Ghandi.

Uribe is a right-winger. So, our government and our media love him.
