Mark Pera lost his primary big time unfortunately

Mark Pera was running in IL for U.S. House in part of Chicago and near west 'burbs. He was defeated 53% to 26%. It really made me sad. I did some volunteering in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago where mayor Daley is from. It really felt like I was in the 1970's people were told by the precinct ward captain who to vote for and they pretty much did. The fact that lipinski wasn't a real dem didn't matter to many people there because they are the old school Chicago flavor of dem. Kinda like dixiecrats. So while Mark raised lots of money from the netroots it didn't hurt lipinski when he put out lit saying :



"The left-wing extremist groups trying to defeat Congressman Lipinski are political punks who snicker and sneer at Southwest Siders like us. They laugh at traditional values. They mock people who go to church. They dismiss senior citizens as irrelevant relics of a bygone era. They look down their educated noses at blue-collar men and women who work for a living. They bad-mouth police and other public safety employees — except when they need a cop, of course. And they give the finger (figuratively and literally) to the men and women of the American military.

They think that regular folks like us, the residents of the Southwest Side, should no longer have a place in the Democratic Party — despite the fact that we were working, sweating, building and strengthening the Democratic Party while they were still crying in their cribs because their diapers were full."



So I guess that crap works. At least in lipinski's district.

3. Obama's name was on the approved list of candidates they hand out

at the polls. Plus da mayor did endorse him. He needs his favors if Obama wins.

As for his senatorial run, Harold Washington, Chicago's first black mayor paved the way for him. Like Harold Obama had a few people running against him in the primary. Harold Washington had a much tougher time and opened lots of minds in the process.
