Dear Congress Critters, Please take a minute from your not
so busy day and explain something to me and to other Seniors around the country.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong but I thought I just heard that we will not be getting the $600.00 incentive check that most Americans will be getting. Is this true? Can there be some reason that we are considered not worthy?

WE have supported all of you for all of our working lives. We still in many cases, pay our mortgages, rent, real estate taxes, income taxes and all other bills. We get a monthly check of very small consequence in the total picture. Not that we haven't PAID into the system for all our working lives.

We require just as much in the way of food and clothing as any American. Our homes may need repair, our appliances or our cars may die, we may and probably will need some Medical attention but heck, we have Medicare...such as it is. You know, the health care that we pay monthly out of our SS checks and still have to pay for medicine.

For some reason that I cannot fathom, you all feel we do not need the money, that we are all sitting in the parlor, eating bon-bons and planning the grand tour of Europe.

Thanks for thinking of us.

1. Simple, if you are too old to be canon fodder and too old to be raising
canon fodder, then you are of no use.

2. Looks like $300.00...
they should be ashamed, $300.00 to diabled vets. It almost seems as if it is backwards.

http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080207/economy_stimulus.html

"Congress, facing the prospect of an election-year recession, passed an emergency plan Thursday that rushes rebates of $600 to $1,200 to most taxpayers and $300 checks to disabled veterans, the elderly and other low-income people. President Bush indicated he would sign the measure...

The legislation would rush rebates -- $600 for individuals, $1,200 for couples -- to most taxpayers and cut business taxes in hopes of reviving the economy. Individuals making up to $75,000 a year and couples earning up to $150,000 would get the full rebate, with those making more than that getting smaller checks.

People who paid no income taxes but earned at least $3,000 -- including through Social Security or veterans' disability benefits -- would get a $300 rebate..."

3. If the so called rebate is actually a prebate on 2008's tax returns
they may figure that seniors do not pay taxes on their SS incomes and will not be able to pay this loan back

4. Where have you been?
Both sides agreed to "stimulus" checks for seniors and disabled vets early this afternoon. $500 for individuals, $1,000 for couples. Unemployment extentions are still out.

Looks like the Senate is going to pass it.
