Lieberman Has “Superdelegate” Status Stripped Because of McCain Endorsement
By: Jane Hamsher Wednesday February 6, 2008 6:00 pm

Thanks to Zell Miller, there is a rule to deal with Joe Lieberman.

Lieberman's endorsement of Republican John McCain disqualifies him as a super-delegate to the Democratic National Convention under what is informally known as the Zell Miller rule, according to Democratic State Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo.

Miller, then a Democratic senator from Georgia, not only endorsed Republican George Bush four years ago, but he delivered a vitriolic attack on Democrat John Kerry at the Republican National Convention.

The Democrats responded with a rule disqualifying any Democrat who crosses the aisle from being a super delegate. Lieberman will not be replaced, DiNardo said.

11. Do you know for sure that he's pledged support for Obama?
seems to me his support would go to your girl, since Liebermann (like McCain) never wants to leave Iraq, and if we're all honest, neither does HRC. That crap about beginning to bring troops home in the first sixty days is so weak, and someone needs to call her on it. She could very well bring home a few troops in the first sixty days, but who's to say how long the others would have to stay?

Ex-Chairman of the DLC (Joe Lieberman) & current Leadership Darling of the DLC (Hillary) have virtually identical voting records.

Not to mention that both Joe and Hillary are MUCH BELOVED by AIPAC for their unqualified committment to use American Blood and Treasure to kill as many Muslims as possible for as long as possible.

A LOT of LOVE in THIS room....Feel it!

except for NCLB, Cheney's Energy Policy and several other doozies.

51. Furiously trying to recreate reality!
Since you use that conservative (DLC) avatar,
AND Lieberman WAS Chairman of the DLC, and a wonderful example of that organizations loyalties,
I can understand that the cognitive dissonance would drive you into deep delusion and denial.

17. Good. He's done, cooked, over.
And his slavish following of McCain was the final nail.

We have 3 Reps for Obama, 1 uncommitted, and 1 senator, uncommitted. I'm not sure taking McCain's boy out of the equation makes any difference whatsoever to our race. Let's just make sure we get plenty of Dems in the senate. Then we can enjoy watching Joe stripped of all sorts of things.

Lie-berman has endorsed McInsane, therefore, since McInsane is a Repug, why should Lie-berman be allowed to have Superdelagate status with the Democratic Party?

Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 11:01 PM by tyedyeto
But never really participate in the discussion that follows your OP?

If you can post the original OP, suurely you can participate in the follow-up discussion

BTW, I got reamed out once because I called you a hit and run poster when you had not responded to a single person in a 100+ thread you had started.

Maybe it's just me.... since I start few threads, but if I start one, I expect to see that thread from start to finish.

Edit cuz i left out a word...

42. I don't think there's any rule, formal or informal, that a poster needs
to be active in a thread simply because they start it. Some prefer to just open a discussion and let it go for as long as the community maintains an interest.

I've never been annoyed by people who choose not to post in their own threads. What I *have* been annoyed by is people who continually respond in their own threads, adding little, seemingly just to keep the thread on the front page. You could see it either way, I suppose.

You know how loyal old Joe is with his bud's. Draw your own conclusions.

30. NY TImes re Obama's statements about Lieberman at the dinner...
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/02/nyregion/02lieberman.html

When he got to Mr. Lieberman, who is his mentor in the Senate and who helped recruit him to speak at the event, the applause again was muted.

"I know that some in the party have differences with Joe," Senator Obama said, all but silencing the crowd. "I'm going to go ahead and say it. It's the elephant in the room. And Joe and I don't agree on everything. But what I know is, Joe Lieberman's a man with a good heart, with a keen intellect, who cares about the working families of America."

Then, with applause beginning to build, he finished the thought: "I am absolutely certain that Connecticut's going to have the good sense to send Joe Lieberman back to the United States Senate."

That time, people cheered loudly.

I imagine that's the only reason he would have had any super-delegate status. Let's elect 5 or more new Democratic Senators and make Joementum's remaining time in DC living hell...kick him out of the caucus, strip him of any chairmanships (he deserves it for his lack of oversight on Katrina) and back bench him into oblivion. He's definitely unfinished business.
