I Still think John Edwards was our "Last, Best Hope" but now that he's dropped out I will place my vote for another candidate this Tuesday.

And if that candidate does not win the primary, I'll vote for the other one in the general election.

This is a historic election different from any other election in American history.

A woman or a person of color is going to be the next President of the United States of America.

And this is the one thing that gives me solace in the dark days of a waning America.

today, I am proud to be a Democrat. If I could pick a better candidate, I would have to run myself. But I have more faults and skeletons than any of the candidates R or D, so I will be proud to have to pick between and African american or a Woman this Tuesday.

I know that neither candidate offers any of us here all that we want, but dear god, look at what we're replacing!

I think you're vastly overestimating the character of the American public.

They'd vote for a raving white male lunatic before they'd vote for a minority or a woman. And that's why Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have been positioned as our "inevitable" 2008 candidates for more than 4 years. Well, that and the fact that they're both Wall Street-approved.

Here's the fact:

McCain is going to be the Republican nominee, and, while he may not actually beat the Democratic nominee, he *will* get close enough to allow the GOP establishment to steal it. Even if that *doesn't* happen and the Democrats do win the White House, our wonderful prize will be the installation of one of these corporate-approved, "moderates".

I know this isn't a particularly inspiring or popular statement, but it's how I feel.

McCain and Mitt don't really have much of a following with the Repug base and I believe will keep a lot of Republicans out of the polls.

Look at Florida. More Dem voters than R voters and we didn't even have a primary there.

energize the Republican base more than any Republican candidate ever could. They'll come out to vote *against* Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama more than they're voting *for* McCain.

And let's not pretend that bigotry is a purely Republican flaw. Clinton and Obama are both going to feel the pinch in Democratic support, especially if they're running against that 'nice old moderate' John McCain. There will be plenty of people voting for McCain who would've voted for the Democrat in any other matchup.

I would love to eat a huge plate of Corvus brachyrhynchos(crow).

If it is McCain vs Clinton we are looking at a 5 to 10 point loss and an absolute downticket disaster losing the Senate and keeping the House but losing seats.

Either will increase Republican turnout and send a fair chunk of the potential Democratic voters towards McCain. And it's not as if you actually have to "win" presidential elections anymore. Just get close enough to steal it.

If you're going to vote for a Democrat regardless, you should vote your heart regardless. Plus, we need to make sure Edwards' issues are still at the forefront.

Unraveling corporate control of our "free press" --- ???

Restoring the Justice Department and tracking the criminals leaving office --- ?


I'd just like to get some of this on the record, because I think we're about to face the same disappointments we've just faced with Reid and Pelosi --- !!! More betrayal!
