More than 20 loud blasts rock southern Baghdad
Edited on Sat Feb-24-07 02:59 PM by cal04
More than 20 loud explosions in quick succession rocked southern Baghdad on Saturday evening, Reuters witnesses

"The cause of the explosions ... earlier came from indirect fire landing into the red zone. At the moment we do not know where it is coming from," the U.S. military said in a statement, referring to the area outside the international Green Zone where most U.S. officials and Iraqi government offices are based.

Indirect fire is a term used by the U.S. military for mortar rounds, rockets and artillery.

(snip)
"The explosions are a result of military operations by Iraqi and multinational forces against terrorist hideouts," he said.

Check with the vice president of the united states or any conservative with access to a microphone for further explanation.

6. red zone?
Ah wait, the time warp is off a bit, not only do we not have water buffalo to kill and count as VC, we have red zones instead of free fire zones. Ok, it takes a bit of adjusting, but I'd say we are now officially in

The Last Throes

of the occupation.
