Got the results back from my lab work. My pap smear registered "0.2" The only problem: I'm a guy

Last week I went into my doctor's office for a check-up. I had some blood work done and yesterday the results came in the mail. I thought it odd that the "Hgb AIC (Diabetes) wasn't notated. Both my doc and I watch this very closely. But then I noticed the "Pap Smear" registered "0.2" Then I realized something was wrong. Probably the office switched my results with someone else's. I've called the doctor's office and am awaiting an explanation.

By the way, is "0.2" for the pap smear considered a good reading? I'd like to know if I'm getting good scores on tests I've never taken.

Oh, and what was it again about government health-care that's so terrible?

It was NOT my doctor...I have no idea who they thought they were calling,so I called the number they left ASAP and told the nurse..

I hope they got in touch with the person they mistook me for...:scared:

Labs charge by the test. If they had said they did a test for pregnancy, they'd have charged for it.

Sure, you can always call and protest... if you have a lot of time and patience to hang on the phone. If it's just a few bucks, it's easier to just pay it. The insurance/medical establishment is counting on you to do just that.

7. Well, it could have been worse.

Several years ago, I had a cold, and because my regular doctor was on vacation, I was seen by another doctor in the office, whom I had never met. He came into the examination room, and asked me how I was feeling. After I told him I had a bad cold he asked about my chest. When I told him it was fine, he asked if the incision was giving me any trouble. The following conversation ensued:

Me: "What incision?"

Him: "Don't you have a T incision on your chest?"

Me: "No."

Him: "Didn't you have heart bypass surgery last month?"

Me: "No!"

Him: "Are you sure?"

Me: "Yeah, I think I'd remember that."

Right name, wrong chart, and a doctor who didn't want to believe his staff had made an error.

11. my chart shows that my "prostate is fine"...later xxx'd out-I am female...

they also had me down as being HBV positive (meaning possible alcohol abuse) when I am EBV positive-Epstein Barr

that is part of what led to Blue Cross Blue Shield denying me insurance
first they asked about my alcoholism treatment-(none as none was needed)
then they had me pay for a liver function test-passed with flying colors
then they told me to get another more in depth liver function test, but when I got to the blood draw clinic and fortunately asked how much the test was I declined it-almost $500 (in 1999 dollars)

hence my living without insurance (in pain and depressed) for the past 8 years

at least now I have medi-cal....which ironically for the state version is run by BCBS....

A friend of mine had the dr tell her she had contracted an STD - but see she was married and monogamous for 10 years, so she confronted her husband, who denied it all. He went to get tested and came back negative. Turns out they had given her the wrong results. This caused lots of drama in their home, but imagine the woman with the STD who perhaps was having unprotected sex out there....
