Jeez rudy, how lame can a guy get? You shouted 'terror', 'terrorists', nine eleven this, nine eleven that, nine eleven nine eleven nine eleven nine eleven ad infinitum, but the trick don't work no more.

Has the ol' nine eleven exploitation well finally run dry? Is this a trend?

But that's how it is, no one wants to talk about the awful event, and the continuing consequences on all our lives, and all the dead since then. Unless its to exploit the horror and tragedy for political and financial gain, and even that is getting harder to do.

1. The exploitation of that event has soured our feelings of it.
The proper mourning and naturally healing was interrupted by exploitative wars and breaches of civil liberties. We have lost 5000+ soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. We lost as many or more to a devastating hurricane as our government ignored suffering. What the terrorist attacks represent was the beginning of the end.

The end of a Super Power. What should have been a solemn and unifying event has squandered for profit and power. We haven't forgotten the events of that day, we are just more disgusted by what our government did in response. We are sickened by the exploitation, and have had enough. We will not scatter in fear anymore. The curtain has been pulled back and we saw a small group of war criminals at the levers.

Enough.

2. Did Rudy have anything else in his platform? A one-issue candidate just doesn't have much appeal.

3. I think "cloverfield" signifies the end of 9/11 exploitation.
This movie obviously incorporates the imagery of 9/11, however depicting a more traditional Hollywood attack on New York that amounts to something several hundred or thousand times worse in terms of casualties and destruction than September 11. Two years ago it would have been considered a horrible provocation, now it's a thrilling piece of entertainment. Emotionally, 9/11 exploitation has lost its punch.
