Do you know
how many repuke reps have decided not to run for re-election? It's a pretty stunning number, and it's indicative of what the republicans fear.

There are currently 203 repuke reps and 232 dems. I'm not sure how many (if any) dems are retiring, but 28 out of 203 is a substantial number, and expect it to increase by a few more as the year wears on.

In quite a few of the districts, like Davis' in VA and Reynolds
in NY, dems are heavily favored. Chris Shays in CT hasn't said he'll retire, but that's another seat that may well go dem in November. I figure we'll pick up at least 8 seats in the House.

Sorry to disappoint with hopeful news.

3. This is avery bad harbinger for repukes in the House
and a very good one for dems. The Senate also looks good. Mark Warner will certainly beat Gilmore in VA, Tom Udall will certainly beat Heather "Nipple" Wilson in NM. Jeanne Shaheen stands an excellent chance of beating John Sununu in NH, as does Mark Udall of beating Schaeffer in CO. Other possibilities include AK, OR and ME.

6. I'm going to guess we will pick up more than 8 in the House.
With 28 recent Republican quitters (one a day this week) and many more to come I think the Dems are poised for a major advance there. Some of the quitters will be replaced with other, fresher R's, but not all.

After all, why would a Republican stay in the House once they can't get their way on everything? It's not like they are there for the good of America, or their constituents, or anything sissy and liberal like that. They can make a lot more money as lobbyists, and that's what really counts.

8. MOTIVE: republicons are quitting to avoid responsibility...
Edited on Thu Jan-31-08 07:55 AM by SpiralHawk
For their massive failures, and the HUGH MESS they have made of America's laws, environment, finances, and reputation in the world...

Republicons never accept responsibility for their pathetic failures: sexual deviancy, general good-old-body corruption, and massive financial malfeasance.

They want to get out of town and blame it all on the Dems...mark my words.

10. looks like the pukes are going have to start breeding a new generation
of corrupt, greedy bastards. The current crop is beginning to slink back to their hide-y holes for cover.
