Responsibility
Edited on Thu Jan-31-08 04:47 AM by Angela Shelley
The US government is working on "securing immunity" against punishment for war crimes and illegal telecommunication activities.

Politicians from both parties are searching for a "popular way" to save the country from economic downturn, without asking where the funding is coming from.

The country is has attacked, invaded and occupied another country, but the media would rather concentrate on other trivial matters.

After making poor business decisions, large banks and corporations are working on finding a way out of the liquidity mess without losing money.

Individual consumers are making plans to "walk away" from mortgages, hoping to keep a clean credit record, without asking "where did the money come from in the first place".

Participants in internet forums anonymously spread lies.

This is social failure, when at every level, there are masses of individuals who are no longer willing or able to carry the responsibility for their decisions and behavior.

2. Taking responsibilty isn't going to happen.
The lack of character is striking.

3. About that internet thingy
"Participants in internet forums anonymously spread lies."

Sorry, that's been going on since the days of the Arpanet, say 1976 or so. Some of us actually remember those days (Hell, I wrote code for the original IMPs).

And before that, there was always chain mails... slower and more expensive to spread the lies, but then today it's easy to do your own research and find out more about the lies.

What was it that Mark Twain said...

"A lie can get half way around the world while the truth is getting its boots on" (or something like that).

4. The internet is not to blame, it´s the individuals
who "anonymously" spread lies, without thinking about the consequences.
