Conservative Base Has Fractured - Rush Windbaugh
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/01/30/limbaugh-conservative-base-has-fractured/

Calling it his "non-concession speech," talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh launched a fresh round of attacks Wednesday on newly-minted GOP frontrunner John McCain — the latest indication the Arizona senator is likely to witness a backlash from some conservative quarters as he seeks to wrap up his party's nomination.

Limbaugh, a longtime conservative critic of McCain, said the senator's rise is largely the result of "uninspiring" candidates, and a "fractured" party base.

"There was no figure in our roster of candidates who rose up to challenge him or galvanize conservative support," Limbaugh said on his daily radio program. "All the candidates on our side, for various reasons, are uninspiring or worse — and so, just as I predicted, the base has fractured."

6. Don't worry, if McCain is the GOP nominee
Rush will just change his tune, proclaim McCain the greatest nominee evah, and Rush's listeners won't notice one whit of difference.

18. you're so right
they'll realize that when the choice is McCain vs Obama or Clinton, then they would much rather get the reliably conservative McCain.

23. McCain had a hard time containing his temper last night.
Sooner or later he's going to go Postal.

He has a sharp tongue and will say something like his Chelsea Clinton remark.

24. You can't count on that
There have been so many posts over the last 4-5 years about Bush having a meltdown or tantrum or that THIS is finally the nail in the coffin for Bush.... and, look, he's still president.

11. So why didn't Rush run?
It would have been a great pleasure to see his campaign fold. . .and the entire nation see just how small his base of support is. . .

15. What you said, donheld.
I want them so thoroughly broken, disabled, and disheartened that it will take them DECADES to regroup. And I hope in the meantime that OUR side doesn't relax and grow complacent again as we did a few decades ago. We let down our guard thinking we'd finally fixed quite a few things and made the necessary improvements and beneficial adjustments. And that was all it took.

Remember what Mad-Eye Moody warned Harry Potter and his friends: "CONSTANT VIGILANCE!!!!!" You can't EVER relax around these people. They'll ALWAYS be lying in wait for your moment of weakness. Like the opportunistic infections they are.

26. The wingers have already made McCain abandon immigration
Edited on Thu Jan-31-08 11:25 AM by TexasObserver
It seems clear that old straight talk is speaking with a forked tongue.

He caved entirely under pressure from the right on immigration. Watch him dance when they ask him if he would vote FOR his own bill. He equivocates and says "it's a dead issue because it will not see the floor."

Let the right rip him good. We should focus on his war mongering, where he is completely out of sync with America, and on his shady financial history as it relates to the economic collapse of Savings and Loans in America two decades ago. That is his soft underbelly.

Perhaps now would be a good time to go home, put on some Sinatra, fix a nice big drink and shove down a feed bag full of oxycontin.
