The Upcoming Great Depression...
now with Edwards out, and the focus not being on the poor, and low wage earning worker class, and the massive divide between the 'classes', the mounting trillions in debt - I ask how you're planning on surviving the great depression about to hit us sooner than later?

I think I'll move back to the mountains and start storing food and building water purification systems, along with putting up a nice row of traps around the property... I'm half-joking. There is so much bad news from the economic side of things, and with 2 corporate candidates getting to duke it out for our votes, and amazingly and SHOCKINGLY only being at a 50/50 tie against McCain in the head-to-head matchups, when a DEM candidate, after 8 years of shrub, should be double digits ahead of them (cough like Edwards was cough) makes it clear to me we're in for more votetrickery.

Let's form a compound and live together. LOL

4. I think the recession is going to be bad, but I don't see a Great Depression happening.
The Fed helped bring about the Great Depression by constricting the money supply when it should've expanded the money supply. It had the effect of deepening and prolonging the Great Depression. The economy in 1929 was already dropping like a rock well before the stock market crashed, but that was due to the Fed of the era not knowing what the hell they were doing.

16. I just don't see that happening unless Bush does it with Iran. Then I would agree.
People know a lot more about how an economy runs and what makes it tick than they did 80 years ago when the Fed was new with incomplete doctrines to work with. They helped bring about the Great Depression before knowing how to get rid of it, but with the knowledge we know about how the economy works today, we would be in a better position to counteract a downturn in the event of a world war in the Middle East.

12. McCain has no chance -- you can find a poll that will show anything, given the circumstances
They'll tie Captain Idiot to McCain and he'll go down like a bad pup tent.

21. My folks went through the Great Depression
And both agree, it is easier to come through tough economic times in the country. You can grow and shoot your own food, and if you have the money now, put up some sort of electricity generating system, wind or solar. Plus folks out in the country form a network to help each other out.
