Who throws a baby out of a car - good fugging grief!!
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/5494635.html

<snip>
The body of a blond baby boy clad in a diaper was discovered this morning in the grass near the side of a Galveston road, police said.

The body, described as a child between 4-months and 6-months-old, was discovered about 9 a.m. near Seawall Boulevard and Ferry Road, Lt. Jorge Trevino said.

"A couple was driving on Cherry Hill and saw what they thought was a doll," Trevino said. But something looked odd and they stopped and discovered the body next to a child's car seat, he said.

Trevino said it appeared that the child may have been thrown from the car while sitting in the car seat. He said it was unlikely that the child could have somehow fallen out of the car without the driver being aware.

there are some people out there who should never have had a kid, or two, three, four. Four over the bridge recently if I'm not mistaken.

7. Not necessarily.
Ever put something on the roof of the car while getting the door open? Then you drive off and a half mile down the road your camera or McDonalds...or your baby...goes flying off to the side?

Just as possible.

In fact, more possible. A baby seat is awful bulky to try to throw out the window of a moving car.

24. the mother's been located, and ,
here read it yourself; sounds like the guy they're looking for is the father. There's a photo of him in the Chron and it seems a baby's been cropped out of the picture.

10. Seems highly unlikely
Don't see how anyone would forget a baby on the roof. What's more the car seat is usually inside the car.

18. Well, I don't see how someone could leave a $900 Nikon on the
trunk, either, but my dad did it. Granted, a baby is more expensive than a camera - even a Nikon.

Seriously, though, many baby seats double as carriers, and snap into a frame in the seat in the car, but can also unsnap for carrying around.

This is not likely to be like the guy on the bridge. To be deliberate it would take 2 people, after all, one to be driving and the other to throw the baby out. Not saying that's impossible, either, but a whole lot less likely. I'm going to reserve judgement.

BTW, I don't mean to exonerate someone for driving off with the baby carrier on the roof. Just saying it could be criminal negligence, rather than deliberate.

21. For babies that age, the base is in the car but people carry the baby around in the "bucket' part
of the seat all the time.

I have no idea how someone would get one of those out of the car window. I think they'd have to open the door to throw it out.

But if it was really an accident, I don't see how there wouldn't have been some kind of Amber Alert for a missing baby or something. The baby's body wouldn't have been discovered like that. There would have been a huge search party or something.

unlikely it fell off there.

12. I can almost relate to this
my biggest fear while my now-grown daughter was an infant was that I might get off the city bus without her. It took the birth of her sister for me to be able to get over this phobia. I guess I figured out that even someone as absent-minded as me couldn't possibly leave two small kids on the bus. But during the worse days, I would be nearly sick by the time I got off the bus (with my daughter) each workday.

30. People forget babies in carseats in their cars, on busses, I read of
one found by a flight attendant after all the passangers had debarked from a plane. It happens. Every year you read a dozen accounts of babies dying in overheated cars, where the parent just forget they had them for the day.

if they are too busy or have their mind else where, maybe they should just slow down and think of the kids.

16. Very very sad indeed...
and yet, there are also people who want to end Roe/Wade. Some people should not be allowed to procreate, they should be sterilized. Like criminals and the mentally challenged.

If abortion was banned, the infant/child homicide rate will sky rocket. Some may give the child up to the state while others will make an attempt to raise only to come to a point of murdering the child.

If men had to give birth, abortion would be a sacrement.

20. Children dying unnecessarily really gets to me
I generally try to be a bit detached when watching/reading the news, since it's generally so often about death and destruction. Maybe it's because I have an almost 5 year old daughter, but every time I hear about young children dying, it really gets to me.

22. Babies that age don't like their car seats and sometimes cry and scream while in the car
if I remember correctly, which I think I do.

My guess is someone got frustrated by the screaming kid and threw him out the car. :( Very sad.

But those seats wouldn't fit out a window - I think the door would have had to have been opened or something.

23. If this is the same story I heard about on the radio this morning
the mother reported to police that her car had been stolen with her baby in it. According to CNN, they are looking for the child's father. If he is the one to have done this, I say convict him and put him in with the general prison population - no protective incarceration because of what he did.

This person goes on trial this week in my city for doing just that.

She may get the death penalty for it.

29. We have a safe haven law in Texas, where you can abandon a baby at
a hospital or firehouse or police station and not face prosecution. It was intended to prevent this cruelty.

I can't help but wonder if there was something else happening, like maybe the mother and baby were carjacked or something.

33. When I was living out Los Angeles a few years ago...
I good buddy of mine related a very bizarre incident to me.

He was sitting at a traffic light waiting for it to turn green.

A car on the opposite side making a left on a green arrow, began to turn. The rear door of the vehicle swung open and what looked like a bundle of blankets or towels spilled out.

The person in the car, slammed on the brakes. Ran outside and grabbed the bundle.

It was at this point, my buddy realized the bundle was a baby!

The person put the baby back into the back seat, got in their car and took off.
