Pelosi to Senate: Don't you mess with my stimulus bill!

The House (passed) the $150 billion economic stimulus package today, but Speaker Nancy Pelosi is already worried about whether the Senate will make a mess of her delicately negotiated deal.

The Senate Finance Committee has released a significantly larger economic package, with more business tax breaks, unemployment insurance and rebates for senior citizens. But the Senate proposal would get rid of the House-proposed income cap on tax rebates, meaning upper income tax payers would get $500 or $1000 checks in the mail from Uncle Sam.

Pelosi (D-Calif.) warns that this would undermine the idea that the stimulus package should be targeted to lower and middle class people. She says that in previous stimulus legislation, upper income people simply put their rebate checks in the banks and did little to help economic growth.

1. But rich people *have* to get more money than poor people.

Otherwise, the poor would be less poor in relation to the rich. You can give every poor person $20k today, so long as you give every rich person $3 million. See?

This "stimulus" is a joke anyway.

4. Toss it over the shoulder and put $150b of pork back in the budget.
Those pork projects will put money into the economy and we'll get something for it.

what you do is find an area that's economically depressed, and then you build a big fucking thing. It doesn't matter what it is, as long as it's big, and it's a fucking thing. And that'll create jobs. And then people will want to come and see the big fucking thing. And they'll want to buy big fucking thing hats and big fucking thing beer mugs... and that stimulates the fucking economy too!!!
