At what point did you turn off the SOTU ?
For me, it was when Bush lectured on the importance of balancing the budget, which is why his plan is to do it in 2012, well after he's out of office.

I know that was pretty early in the speech, but I just knew I couldn't watch any more.

3. You lasted longer than me. I didn't even turn it on.
I can't stand to hear him speak in the first place (although I did hear a report this morning that he read the speech very well) and to listen and wait for all of the pauses for applause for his feeble efforts was more than I could do. I might read the transcript later, but I was not going to waste an hour of my life listening to that jerk.

4. I watched HGTV and Food Network!! LOL.
I just can not stand his voice. Even when they show a 10 second blip of him speaking on the t.v. I quickly grab for the remote to mute his ass. On a good note, I did get a few good recipes and decorating ideas!!

5. I had the SOTU on in another room, on the other side of the house.
I walked that way a few times while doing other things, and watched it only briefly. I just can't stand to see the man, or hear his voice. His previous speeches have been lies, so it's really a waste of time watching, isn't it?

We all know what he and his cronies have been up to, and it's been at our expense. It made me sick to my stomach to see the audience stand and applaud as if this man had done anything for our country.

Nancy Pelosi was sitting there behind him, reading, pursing her lips, and in general just served as a reminder that we have a Congress that is not functioning as it should. It is not doing its job at providing oversight to the Executive Branch. The checks and balances are not being performed as they should be, and if they are, there are a lot of things being ignored.

Those people all make a lot of money, have good benefits, and retirement plans, things we don't have. And they are not doing their jobs.

I just can't watch for long.

Let's donate money to the people camped-out in front of her house.

The last time I saw the woman we all knew and loved, the fiery, jovial, boisterous on point, independent voice was when?

Seems like forever.

9. Watched the whole thing.
Scared everyone in the house with my shouting - the dog got really upset! (He got treats from me afterwards...) :)

But Mr. Bush slurred almost everything he said, continued his saber-rattling towards Iran - despite any of those pesky "facts" he hates so much, blamed the American people for everything that's wrong in their lives, and lectured Congress on what they should and shouldn't be doing. Oh, and he decided to lay down the law on earmarks, and threatened to veto just about anything that he doesn't like.

Little Lord Pissypants was in fine form tonight...

40. Not really
Though even my husband noticed the great divide between those standing and clapping, and those sitting there stony-faced. :)

Bush's theme seemed to be "trust" - we must trust the American people to do this, we must trust the government to do this, etc. He managed to make trust sound like a dirty word! And everything he said was so... ridiculous. He started blathering on about alternative fuels as if he hadn't been blathering on and doing NOTHING about them for seven years. And he really did sound like a petulant child...

Like I said when it was over, "He's so full of shit its coming out his ears!"

Anyway, I'm glad I'll never have to watch another one of those again! :)

19. before it started.
not as if we missed something. 24 hour tv reviews are more than enough. But, then we missed seeing all the childish antics of the pols criticizing or pandering to GW. Its sort of fun to see when Republicans and Democrats applaud. / Where was Kucinich. Did he boycott the event. The day of the SOTU he filled a bill of impeachment against our fearless leader.

20. Never turned it on, I've used up my years worth of swearwords.
The man is now so irrelevant that it is a waste to waste electricity watching him. Better to read a book. I am interested in the after reporting though. I enjoy being with those who say they never watched. Gives me a good feeling as I head off to work. All his economic stimulus talk is baloney. He'll be long gone before we're bailed out of the mess he has put us in.

Meanwhile, this old-timer must go off to earn a little money. As a Senior, I doubt the "stimulus" rebates will be coming our way. Even if they do, my fuel company will be the beneficiary.
