Perfect example of why the Dems always get their asses kicked = the SOTU response!
Bush's lie filled, taunting, divisive, groundhog day speech did NOT need a play nice, let's roll up our sleeves, the country is not all that divided response. Do we ever learn how to play in this sandbox????

3. Unfortunately, I believe the DLC picked Sibelius to respond
precisely because she's from a conservative state and would not rock the boat too much and scare the timid fictional swing voters they think are the key to all elections.

It was a typical DLC blunder, which is why we need to oust them any way we can.

22. DLC Is Only The Sympton, My Friend
The problem is the entire system of governance. Capitalism is antithetical to democracy. If it wasn't the DLC some other corporate entity would come along and fill the same corporate role. It's capitalism, not one bad organization.

I guess that I don't understand Kansas politics at all! She was speaking to the entire country, not just to Kansas, however!

13. The real Democratic response @ Sebelius
..... you have probably lost your job and your home. Although you and the kids are sleeping in your car and eating dog food, this is what makes our country great. Smile, live- love- and laugh, as the sun shines bright above our fruited plains and we all work together. Although the rich get richer and you shiver in the morning cold, it's a wonderful way for all Americans to remember that, the pain in your stomach is not hunger.. it is LOVE. Love for our fellow Republicans who are not giving you the finger as they go by. No,my friends. They are saluting you my fellow Democrats! Saluting your bi-partisan cooperation and good nature. Good night and long live our great CONgress. :sarcasm: :wtf:

21. If that's a taste of what Obama's embrace of the repos means then gag me.
Sleeper speech. I thought she was auditioning for Greenspan's job. Meanwhile, the Unitary Executive makes a signing statement on the defense appropriations bill that tells the dems to go screw. The only way Obama gets this unity thing is if the pubs lose both houses of congress and the presidency. Hopefully then we'd have a democrat to come in and roll back the damage done, not someone who would then invite the surviving GOP in as equals.

23. Why Do You Think The 'Embrace' Keeps Happening? Excuse Me For Askin....
But hasn't it gotten old? Everyday reading 20 posts that are all the same.

Why don't the Dems take the gloves off??
Why do they keep invitin' em in???
Why don't they blast 'em??
Why do the Dems cave??
Why won't the Dems get a spine??

Maybe we keep asking this question day after damn day because they are working together to subvert our power? Is that even possible? Or should we continue day after day, pondering this same tired question?

24. Welcome. You're right. They are tired questions.
We... er, no I mean the Democrats, might have complete control of the government in 2009, and yet nothing much will change. Give me a new question. It's important to ask the right questions. :hi:

25. Bullshit. Her Response Was Great And Her Tone Was Exactly What It Should've Been.
You and some others here need to recognize that you're an AMAZINGLY small minority of the population, as it relates to wanting to hear aggressive, confrontational and extremely partisan replies. The overwhelming majority of society is sick of the tone of bickering, slamming and confrontation in washington, that has led to nothing getting done. What we need so badly; what the country longs for so badly; is the end of this bush regime and a fresh start, that has more of a hopeful tone, mature tone and working for society, rather than against each other, type tone.

She nailed that essence perfectly and should be commended. I think her presentation and context was perfect as to what was required of her, and I firmly believe that those who are railing against her so heavily do so because they simply can't step out of their own narrow bubble and see the forest for the trees.

She should've been saying things like, "we're gonna waste you, you m-f'ing repub slime" and "go ahead chimpy, make my day". Yep, that's the ticket.

30. Sorry OMC, But It Seems Like That Tactic Has Already Failed
Wasn't that what the dems were trying to do since 2001?

Why would it suddenly work now? Playing nice sure didn't do any good in 2000, 2002, & 2004.

Why would you assume that the only people who really want a serious challenge to the current power structure is just this microcosm of DU?

I would think that someone other than one of the dem candidates could do a fire-breather bit and make it look like the dems are able to, willing to, and going to take charge.

Like i said; the playing nice tactic hasn't exactly been a towering success.
