Let's hear it for CatalogChoice.org! Go green and decline unwanted catalogs.
So, I sat down to go through my Giant Pile O Mail that's accumulated on my desk for a week and -- guess what -- NO CATALOGS! I was floored. I've been diligently declining catalogs with CatalogChoice.org for the last couple of months and finally it looks like those catalog decline requests are getting through. Of course this is great because I only ever buy from the website anyway -- I don't like looking through catalogs, so they just show up and get tossed immediately. And all those catalogs are a big strain on the environment.

So if you haven't been there, go check it out and develop a declining habit!

1. Oh, awesome, I'm definitely checking this out!!
I've been calling companies and requesting that they stop mailing me catalogs, every one I've received for the last 4 months. Seems that it's *starting* to make a dent. I HATE the waste - it's just advertising, and I don't need the stuff, and even if I need it, I'll find it online, anyway.

Thank you!!

3. It's actually kind of fun.
The mail comes in, I pull out the catalogs, log on, and decline them. I'm up to 27 declined so far. :D

I don't pay attention to stuff in my mailbox. It's so wasteful and it has literally become a PAIN to sort my mail from the junk flyers, coupons, catalogues, "Have you Seen Me?" postcards.

Ugh. I want it GONE!!

edit: I do almost ll my product research online anymore, plus make recon visits tot he store before I buy.

2. Great entry, crispini!
There is also greendimes.org. It is a pay service ($20/yr) but they will cut down on all junk mail too and plant trees for you.

My address is very old and on lots of mailing lists. I joined to see if I can cut down on the junk mail, so I don't have to spend endless hours sorting.

6. Thanks for sharing this!
I just signed up, and as they come in (and they just DO keep coming in) I'll decline each in turn.

from shopping when you know that with everything you buy, you're gonna suffer through 2 years of catalogs. x(

And then the big postcard comes all marked in red ink "RENEW YOUR SUBSCRIPTION NOW!! THIS IS THE LAST ISSUE!!"

And of course, they never follow through on their promises. :P

16. Mom gets renewal notices before the subscription even starts sometimes!
And the more catalogs she receives, the more she shops!:dilemma:

She is a compulsive shopper; thank heavens she doesn't have the internets!:hi:

My mom is always bitchin' about the catalogs I get at the house. I just removed the ones I am aware that I receive and never read. She can also remove herself from the lists!

THANK YOU!!
