Poll question: Some viewing alternatives for State of the Union Monday: What's your poison?
Assuming no one here is interested in listening to any more lies from the chimp, and can't take another "speech" consisting of saber-rattling about "nukular" weapons, I am listing - as a public service - some other TV viewing options. Your choice and why?

4. Quiet night with books.
Same on Tuesday night for Granholm's State of the State. She totally broke almost all of her economic promises last year. I'm done getting my hopes up there with her.

at the local Alano Club.

I'm mildly curious as to how much he'll be praising himself for his "stimulus package" but not enough to stiff my fellow sufferers.

13. We've already seen the SOTU six times... Here's what he'll say
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x2768406

I won't watch. But afterwards, as an exercise for my 12yo daughter, I'm gonna have her check my list against the transcript of it and see how close I got.

15. Simply excellent. Also, we get to see Cheney climb out of his hole and appear.
Thanks for the list. Pretty complete, I would say. The only question I have is the same as the person skeptical of him using so many multisyllable words.

I'll check with my 31-year-old daughter, too. Of course, she can't watch him. Makes her physically ill (and my partner here - well, she has the same physical response).

19. Dozens of books and articles
I'm in grad school, so I have about a 300 page per day diet. The main texts I am reading at the moment are on: advanced quantitative methods (multivariate and spatial statistics), research strategies for writing dissertations; and remote sensing image analysis (photogrammetry). I am also working on a dissertation bibliography (lots of reading and skimming), and writing an article review for a peer reviewed journal regarding remote sensing of water resources (analysis of water quality using infrared images from satellites; Landsat 7 TM+, MODIS, IKONOS, etc).

I am, however, just about to start reading some sheet music (play guitar) of some Brazilian chôro tunes (early Brazilian classical/jazz music), when I log off here.

What are you reading?

A master thief (Mark Wahlberg) and his crew plan to steal back a fortune in gold bullion after they lose it to a double-crossing gang member (Edward Norton).

Any movie with Charlize Theron is worth watching, imho.

20. Turn On The State Of The Union Monday Night
I am invited to a friend's house tomorrow night.

Several people will be there. We get together every SOTU night.

We turn the TV to the SOTU.

But we mute the sound.

Then we sit around and shout things that we wish Bush would be saying.
