RICHARD BABB: Holy nuclear secrets, Batman!
1/27/2008 6:51:40 AM
Daily Journal

Something is happening here; what it is ain’t exactly clear.
– The Buffalo Springfield

Now and for the foreseeable future, virtually everything involving Britney is a big deal.
– Memo from Associated Press Los Angeles assistant bureau chief

On the heels of a Jan. 2, 2008, op-ed in the New York Times by 911 Commission Chairmen, Thomas Kean and Lee Hamilton, in which they aver that the 911 Commission was stonewalled by the CIA (say what?), comes a huge story the “Old Gray Lady” (the Times) has refused to touch with a 10-foot pole.

And that is the story of Sibel Edmonds, a former FBI translator.

Because of a recent interview Edmonds did with the London Sunday Times (which ain’t exactly some 1967 San Francisco anti-establishment rag being mimeographed by an acid-spracked hippie in an empty storefront on Haight-Ashbury), the story has been making the Internet rounds, picked up by both left and right websites devoted to all things political.

- snip -

The facts are serenely simple, but the implications are profoundly troubling. Here’s the skinny: Some years ago, Edmonds, fluent in a couple of Middle Eastern languages, was hired by the FBI to do a little translating. Her job included translating tapes made of wiretaps of suspected foreign agents. Apparently Edmonds heard tapes of high-level U.S. officials engaging in a conspiracy with foreign agents to install a series of moles in sensitive nuclear and military installations. According to Edmonds, at least one U.S. senior official was being paid by Turkish agents. These agents were then selling the information onto the black market, which included Pakistan. Some ally we have there.

Edmonds also claims the FBI was gathering information against senior Pentagon officials who were aiding foreign agents. The money quote from the Times article: “If you made public all the information that the FBI have on this case, you will see very high level people going through criminal trials.”

- snip -

On top of that, Edmonds told the Times that she heard plenty of evidence involving money laundering and drug running. And on top of that, Edmonds asserts that some of these FBI targets had been rounded up as suspects right after 911, but at least one senior official used his influence to get these suspects released. Apparently, some FBI agents were none too pleased but were powerless to get anything done about it. Well.

:patriot:
Now that this has hit the ground in the US, there's no stopping it.

Let's send this to all the blogs & other press outlets to force it out in the open.

Kudos to those in Tupelo that still believe in freedom of speech & a free press!

8. this is the first time Sibel Edmonds' story has appeared in the US media, right?
It only takes a little nudge to start an avalanche. The Valerie Plame scandal started slowly, too.

Sept. 11 Allegations Lost in Translation

By Jefferson Morley
washingtonpost.com Staff Writer
Thursday, April 8, 2004; 9:51 AM

The sensational story of Sibel Edmonds illuminates the world of difference between the international online media and the U.S. press.

Edmonds is a 33-year-old former FBI translator whose February allegations to the commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks directly challenge the credibility of the commission's star witness, national security adviser Condoleezza Rice. In an April 2 interview with the Independent of London, Edmonds said she read intelligence reports from the summer of 2001 that al Qaeda operatives planned to fly hijacked airplanes into U.S. skyscrapers.
____
"There was general information about the time-frame, about methods to be used but not specifically about how they would be used and about people being in place and who was ordering these sorts of terror attacks," she said. She added that specific cities with skyscrapers were mentioned.

Edmonds said that she had provided the commission's staff with "specific dates, specific target information, specific managers in charge of the investigation. I gave them everything so that they could go back and follow up. This is not hearsay. These are things that are documented. These things can be established very easily."

Edmonds took issue with Rice's assertion in a March 22 Washington Post Op-Ed piece that the United States had no intelligence warning of al Qaeda's tactics. "That is impossible," she said.

And she was interviewed once by CBS 60 Minutes. After the initial reports by the Washington Post and CBS however, there was zilch for follow-up and it appeared that the LameStream media just wasn't interested in making any waves by reporting on her any further. That way, of course, if, by some mischance, the brown stuff did one day hit the circular ventilator and the media types were accused of being sock puppets for the Bush gang of crooks and keeping from public awareness Sibel's allegations of treason and black market profiteering in illegal nuclear sales, arms sales and drug dealing, they could say, "Oh yes, there were some reports on her story in the mainstream media, but there wasn't any interest in it from the public, and so the story never took off."
