Floridians, what can you tell me about Governor Charlie Crist?

He actually seems half-way decent for a Republican. What's the story on him?

1. First of all, his name is "Jesus" Crist.

He hasn't done a TV speech with a cross in the background - yet - but he's close.

He's also unrelated to the Bush family, which is perhaps his only plus.

He's pushing a plan to cut housing taxes - which will save the average homeowner only about $20, but will severely cut support for such civic necessities as fire departments, libraries and schools.

He doesn't have any scandals, but neither does my cleaning lady's cat.

2. And ...

His nickname was "chain-gang" Charlie. This might still be appropriate because Florida is home to GEO one of the largest for-profit prison companies. Florida is also projected to have one of the largest prison population and it is the birthplace of the for-profit prison scheme pass on to other states.

He sign a law to restore felons voting rights IF they can pay restitution for their prison service.

He carries the distinction of Bill Clinton in that he's been declared the first Black Governor of the state of Florida.

6. He seems decent because he's following Jeb Bush's run.

That said, he reminds me of Ah-nold at times. He has done some surprisingly un-Republican type things every now and again.

His endorsement of McCain is going to be big down here, I think.
