I Received A Paper Prayer Mat in The Mail
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 02:02 AM by otohara
from St. Matthews Mail Ministry Churches today...If I pray on the mat for say...money or a car (which is perfectly okay) and then I donate to the church and return the paper mat, my prayer will come true.

I'm going to let this guy explain it, because it's all to bizarre and he's done a great job of detailing this mail scheme. http://www.maxmccoy.com/Shroud%20of%20Tulsa.htm

4. Do you have to face Mecca?
Or perhaps Jerusalem?

Actually, with these money-grubbers, you'd probably be better off facing Wall Street.

5. Shred it, and return it in the postage-paid envelope
That might get them to take you off their mailing list...

If not, then shred it, use it as gerbil bedding for a couple of weeks, THEN mail it back to them in the postage-paid envelope!

say, quarter inch plate about 3.5x8 inches should do it. My math says 1.75 pounds.

6. Is that a picture of the "prayer mat"?
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 02:20 AM by Ken Burch
If so, not only is it a really icky moneymaking scam, it's also a cheesy ripoff of the Shroud of Turin(Giving 'ol Yeshua more of an early Kenny Loggins or Ellen Degeneres-with-a-fake-beard look than he normally has as well.)

34. Yes , They Instruct You Stare At The Eyes
which "appear" to be shut, and when Jesus opens his eyes, that is the sign that it works. Prayer wish to follow later when you return the prayer mat along with a donation. They make a big deal about returning it.

Must have cost a lot of money to print, there are about 4 pieces to it and the mat is probably 16 x 22

11. Prosperity theology is the last refuge of religious hucksters
and I think everybody who bought into it is going to have ample reason to go after the bastards. They're already the subject of an investigation by Congress and I know a few of them are facing run of the mill lawsuits.

The old copout of "you just didn't believe enough" is wearing awfully thin as prices rise in everything but the homes that represent most folks' net worth.

26. Don't laugh--Orthodox Christians have an icon called
the "Holy Napkin."

Fortunately I'd take this one over the one referenced above any day.

at least around here. No one says "baby jesus" they all say "THE baby jesus". I think leaving "the" off makes the baby jesus cry. :)

She thought it was so funny, she could hardly wait to show it to me. I'd love to know how she got on that mailing list. Here's a hint, St. Matthews: Christians don't use prayer rugs. And Southern Baptists and Methodists surely don't. Also, rugs require yarn.
